Anybody attending the Mariachi night is welcome to crash at mine for the evening, an open invitation to all on the forum, and non forumites as well.

    Re: mariachi night at Bedford...Review

Ive just got a babysitter sorted out for this night as didn't think i would be able to go. Im so excited at being able to as the last one i went to was absolutely fantastic.

Apparantely CJ is doing a showcase too thats worth a visit just to see the flash ups of the kilt.....

Anyway, one thing that was missing for me was lots of our forumite friends cause i spose Bedford is a bit out of the way for some but anybody that does wanna join a great evening should give me a call or pm me cause we will sort out accomodation for you one way or another. And of course if you stay at DTS's your guaranteed a big boy fry up for breakfast.....

Cant wait, so excited, gonna be brilliant. PM me anybody who would love to join a great night so we can sort out a nice bed and book you in for brekkie.

I understood it was going to be guitar based stuff - and that is my roots - that is what like. I guess it seemed limited in range (and that comment needs to be tempered as I did not stay to the end - so maybe there were some more great tracks played later).

Just a couple of examples at random which I was playing this morning (and which I did test dances to):

James - 'Sit Down' 125 bpm
LAs - 'There She Goes' 122 bpm

I guess I was expecting more of the kind of tracks from the list below....
    These are guitar based - although I haven't 'test-danced'.

Ambulance - 'Stay where you are' 128 bpm
Beck - 'Devils Haircut' 123 bpm
    Cast - 'Alright' 139 bpm
David Bowie (live) - 'Knock on Wood' 126 bpm
Deacon Blue - 'Twist and Shout' 133 bpm
Duane Eddy - 'Peter Gunn' 116 bpm
Echo and the Bunnymen - 'A Promise' 129 bpm
    The Eels 'Beautiful Day' 114bpm
    Elastica - 'Connection' 121 bpm
    Farm -'Groovy Train' 115 bpm
Fine Young Cannibals - 'Suspicious Minds' 128 bpm
Haircut 100 - 'Love Plus One' 136 bpm
Jesus and Mary Chain 'April Skies' 118 bpm
Led Zeppelin - 'Houses of the Holy' 123 bpm (bit long)
Lenny Kravitz - 'Fields of joy' bpm varies
Lightning Seeds -'Life of Riley' 121 bpm
Little Feat - 'Time Loves a Hero' 134 bpm
Lloyd Cole & the Commotions - 'Perfect Skin' 130 bpm
Los Lobos 'Will the Wolf Survive' 136 bpm
Marc Bolan - '20th Century Boy' 134 bpm
Mott the Hoople - 'Honaloochie Bogie' 120bpm
Oasis - 'Roll with it' 127 bpm
Orange Juice - 'Consolation Prize' 125 bpm

    etc.

And yes - I was one of the one giving 'Echo Beach' a good go - which I did!
Preparing for tomorrow, I have re read this thread.

JiveLad, are U sure of ur BPMs??

You were some 30 BPM off with "Echo Beach", and am unsure about some lised above... I'm off to check a few, but would apprciae any other input or "definitive" BPM numbers from anyone in the know...

FWIW, Zep and Kravitz won't get a play (although I've kept Kravitz in my personal selection... I'd forgotten about that tune!!)

Also, be a darling & check your facebook inbox, as I've cheekily made a couple of (not at all experimental) requests!

How much tango are you playing this time?
