    MOBO nominee?

Yes, another thread for "our Amy"

    But I saw this:
BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Winehouse leads Mobo nominations

To quote from the MOBO website:
The MOBO Awards were launched in 1996 as the 1st black awards show in Europe.
Also, I notice that Joss Stone is nominated.

    Is MOBO going mainstream then?

I think it has gone more mainstream since it was televised. Got to keep the sponsors happy.

Um, not quite. At one time Samuel Coleridge-Taylor was a significant figure in British music, now somewhat neglected in concert repertoire.

And Dvorak did claim that some of the melodies in his works (like theNew World Symphony) were based on spirituals he'd heard during his visits to the USA. So there's a case for the most famous Czech composer producing "music of black origin".

I'm going to a concert in October which includes his violin concerto. I wondered who he was.
