Big Fat Friday 03 08 07
Here are the 14 yes 14 Paps I managed to get at Ealing last Friday!
It was the quitest one ever for me.
It is usually quiet this time of year anyway and on previous such times BFF has always been the main pull. But not this time.
I dont know what it was but the crowd went elsewhere! (Ashtons Mainly) There seemed to be a lot of last minute changes of minds !! (was it me?)
The music for me was as good as ever ( but can we knock candy man on the head mow please?)
The atmosphere was not there this time
Not least the fact that there was not enough people to make it work but also its a big drab looking venue and IMO with too much white light.
The rule of thumb is that the smaller the number of people the smaller the Venue has to look. It wasn't followed on this occassion sadly (in fact it never is there but usually doesn't matter)
That said I had great dances and it held me and most of the others until the end so no complaints.

There might be another reason for the quiet.
Ceroc Barcelona is coming up in the next week or so and that is one of the key events in the dance holiday calendar. I know this, as I went on it four years ago.
It's probably a one off and you will find down the line that the next one will be back to it's energetic normality.
There were at least a dozen (possibly more) Fat Friday regulars at Camp Savoy (including moi)

That date is recognized as her official birthday.

It's been gradually getting quieter for a while now - probably because the competition's been getting better (there's more to do on an average Friday night now), and BFFF has been standing still. I think they need to sort themselves out sharpish or they'll be going down.
One possibility would be to hook up with the salsa crowd downstairs and offer discounted "joint" tickets - no other MJ night could compete with that.
But at the moment, there are more people in the small downstairs salsa venue than the large upstairs hall, which is kind of silly really.
