Re: Friday 31st Aug - Sunday 2nd September

I've enjoyed this weekend whole heartedly. This evening was a little intense as Rachel had taken a well deserved break. Between 6.30 and 8.30 I managed to set up the Blues room, find a demo, teach a beginners class and come up with an intermediate routine. Since Ian was at the HMS President and couldn't get there till after 8, I managed to squeeze in a main room set in as well.

Most mornings it takes me about 2 hours to decide what pants to wear. I tend to think quite a bit but don't usually do too much so I fully appreciate the feeling of living life in the fast lane.

The best bit about the past few days comes from feeling at ease with everyone around me. I did have a grumpy moment on Saturday night which quite rightly made Rachel react strongly. She wanted to play some music in the early hours and my reaction was so unnecessary and thoughtless that thinking back, it makes me cringe.

I'm deeply sorry. Sometimes I forget that you have to wake up early and drive to work and you so rarely get a chance to switch off. My comment that you should find time to familiarize yourself with the music was unforgiving and I apologize for my lack of faith. It's true that the only time you get to do this is while we are out and every time you have had the chance, you have been astounding. I have made a mental note not to act like such a horses ass
(Do we have such thing as the rectal region of a horse emoticon as it would so come in handy right now?)

Other highlights are the Ashtons reception and the lovely dances with Lory.
Can't wait to do it all over again.

Re: Friday 31st Aug - Sunday 2nd September

Had the most fabulous time in Scotland. It took me 7 hours to get to Kirriemuir. It was a fine drive apart from my little encounter with Cumbria's finest (ooops!). Got there about 11:30pm on Friday night, where I was fondly greeted by many of my Inverness chums. Got checked in, knocked the froth off a couple and got down with the dancing. I was pretty tired but was buzzin by the time Sheena finished the tunez around 2am. I have to say some pretty fine moves by Cheeks - thanks!

I have a protégé - in the form of my new friend Noel - who got into Ceroc by way of my ex-ballroom partner, Mel and her sister Vicky
Apparently I have a rep in Inverness?? Blimey!
Seriously though it is a good feeling to find that people have taken up the dance I love, through the friends I introduced - long may it spread!
Franck's classes were excellent as ever, and left me with plenty of food for thought! If one thing stays with me - I hope it is my "internal connection" - which is OK but I sometimes forget/lead with my feet. So plenty to practice with. I much enjoyed the musicality workshop too.
Everyone needs to remind Franck to say "please" from now on! LOL
Took the car out for a spin around the Angus countryside - brillliant way to blast 20 quids worth of fuel out the back and blow away those cobwebs.

The Saturday evening party was wicked! So good to see Dazzler strutting his stuff and many others (I'm useless with names). So many good dances and a wicked set by Tiggerbabe. Experimented with the Men leading men thing - which is always a giggle. Memorable moments include seeing Dazzler pinned to a seat by at least 3 girating girlies; Tiggerbabe dancing with Cheeks - How does that go again "Semi-circle to the left & bend over?", much to the amusement of Dazzler and myself- LOL
Finished at 4am - achy calves, sore feet - big smile on face!

Following breaky on Sunday, we had a couple of more excellent classes on connection and slotting.

A huge thanks to Franck for organising - best time in ages - can't wait for BlazeII

Long drive home - got back at 10:30pm, thankfully without any drama's.

So I think it must have been just me being in a weird mood for some reason.

But to Ian, Eric and Marc for the music - the best sets I've heard at an Ashtons freestyle for as long as I can remember.
I didn't enjoy Ashtons either though lots of other people seemed to.

On the plus side, the floor was good.

I didn't like the music - think I have gotten so used to the stuff played at WCS events that I'm losing the taste for latin (if I ever had it). Wasn't seeking people out to dance. It's always really busy on the floor until about midnight. Moan moan groan groan.

Me neither, I too didn't like the music, although I had some lovely dances, I couldn't get into the night at all.
Must say though, I had a fab evening at the Sunday Smoove! Loved the music, venue, atmosphere and lots of my favourite men were there. I just wish it was nearer to home so I could go regularly but it's the wrong side of London for me.

Great to meet you too, and thank you for the wonderful dances... (one for the doubters - see - I do actually exist - I think)

It was interesting that evening seeing a slight mix of cultures (lindy & MJ) - getting along so well. Certainly made for a wide range of styles on the dancefloor as well - and a seriously fun crowd to play music for
