Utopia Twickenham 08 07 Paps
Utopia for me was a truley fab night.
The best yet in fact.
I got the feeling that after a period of some experimentation and responding to feedback The Utopia crew seem to have found the perfect balance of ambiance, music and most crucially for me, the timing of tracks and mood.
Utopia seems all grown up all of a sudden
They played some R & B trax
That seemed to be a new thing for the Utopia concept ( for me anyway) It was a good thing and the tracks appeared to be carefully chosen to reflect the smoother style that Utopian dancers have come to expect.
So although the R & B tracks were unusual to hear at Utopia, they were by no means out of place. Neither were the latin tracks that were played a little later on (IMO)
As I've come to take for granted at Val and Rocky's Utopia at least, I never got one bad dance.
So much so I sat out a few dances, confident that the next track played and person I danced with, would both be good. I wasn't disappointed.
It was great to see so many of what seems to be coming reguler Utopians. I only hope it does not become clicky and intimidating for new faces or there wont be any new faces which will be a shame
The Atmosphere was as usual great but a little more colour is needed to offset the Utopia traditional purple/pink- I suggest some deep blue.
There was one nigle for me (well more of an observation really) The sound from the new speakers did not quite carry past the pillers in the middle when the floor is crowded. Spreading the Stage Left Speaker further out will easily fix this problem.
What a great night. Rocky and Silver Fox complimented each other very well and you could sense when one took over from the other without even looking,
Ive posted the Paps. Unfortunately I seem to have developed focus problems and many did not come out ( Bummer)
