OK that is me out of your dance list then Gadget - I mean you must know by now that I am completely unhinged, have rotten balance, and no self control whateverOriginally Posted by gadget

This year I spent some time practised some of my WCS skills with a dancer with a Line Dancing background. Her ability was way beyond mine but found it a great way to improve and highlight what I needed to do as a dancer myself and she taught me a great many things. Thank you!..
It is good to push yourself out of your normal boundries and challenge your abilities...
I seen a few ppl saying... Telling me my mistakes? in my opion this could be good? personally i like being told if im going rong so i can improve... I can understand if its some 1 who cant even dance telling u how.. but sometimes i find it helps me loads!
What about in class?
I politely pointed out to someone last night after we'd completed a move that actually his hand had been on my shoulder blade, not my hip as the teacher had instructed (I did this politely - saying "did you realise" not saying "oi you, you got it wrong!"). He seemed to think he'd lead me, but in fact whilst executing the move I'd been listening to the teacher, and remembering how I'd been lead earlier. Had he led it that way in freestyle, I would not have done the footwork correctly. He took great umbrage
Sorry if this is a bit off thread...
Difficult one.
I (almost) always lead a first move with my r/h on the shoulder blade rather than hip regardless of what the teacher is doing. I could copy the teacher identically but then the ladies might be surprised in freestyle when I revert to the shoulder. It's getting at the difference between lead/follow and copying moves IMO
However I accept that wthout knowing the specifics of your example I can't say what I would have done. You seem to say that his leading it in the way he did prevented you from following it as intended and on that basis I think you were right to speak up.
I should have said the move being lead - sorry. The dreaded Columbian.
Bad follower! No cookie!
Anyways, my top qualities for followers are:
1. Happy/fun attitude. Smiles and laughter good.
2. Following my lead precisely and swiftly. (ability to follow lead of other people not relevant)
3. Happy to follow everything I lead. Especially bounces.
4. Able to follow everything I lead. Especially hip motion.
5. Making everything look good. Especially me.
Worst qualities:
1. Can't follow.
2. Won't follow.
3. Unreadable.
4. Spikes.
5. High standards.
