    Online radio stations - any recommendations?

    Having finally moved away from the dial up dark ages to get broadband connected I want to start seeking out some decent online radio stations. Do forumites have any stations (with URLs) that they would recommend?

    I quite like pandora - not strictly a radio but better music than most

    Pandora Radio - Listen to Free Internet Radio, Find New Music

    I tend to listen to nova - an australian radio station generally Perth - but sometimes Melbourne

    Perth - Nova937 :: Home

    Melbourne - Nova100 :: Home

    I have used Live365 Internet Radio - Thousands of Free Online Radio Stations to access radio dismuke which plays old jazz from the 30's.

    Both these are wonderful. My favourite live365 station is Yehoodi, which is an absolute must for all swing lovers.

    I love Listen again Radio 4 and Radio 7, the latter play all the old goon shows and other classics. I like to catch up on what I've missed in the week. Don't tend to use the radio to listen to music - having said that i will explore the internet radio that is posted. Tend to enjoy the comedy, plays and of course the blessed Woman's Hour.

    Following on from rubyred's BBC Theme - I quite often listen to BBC 6Music (mainly because it's about the only one that will work on my Work PCs which doesn't have RealPlayer).

    It is good, though..

    I would recommend nonstopplay. It plays back to back dance and R&B music 24/7 without any annoying presenters yakking away!

    When I listenened to this it seemed to me to be mostly thump, thump, contemporary rubxxxh, oops, not for me stuff.

    The only station I have bookmarked is Online Oldies Radio Station - Live365 Internet Radio - Oldies and Blues which transports me back to a more gracious age.

    Thanks for suggestions so far.

    Spent some time listening to Dirty South Flavaz last night. Not the most sophisticated but the occasional gem. Also started to discover the wealth of old skool hardcore/jungle archives out there. Some good memories.

    Radio 2 usually keeps me company but if you want to choose a genre then I use Accuradio

    Or if you fancy something a little different try or this

    Seems online radio just invites itself into my pc. I have to shut down the pc altogether as its so loud. There is nothing visible on my screen either when the show starts! spooky eh!

    Download this brilliant little program: Screamer Radio Access to hundreds of different radio stations and it encodes tracks to mp3. Here are a couple of direct links to my favourite internet radio stations. Groove Salad at SomaFM: Extremely Independent Internet Radio Perfect Chill Out music. Also PointBlankfm Best dance music station going (doesn't always stream).

    Re: Online radio stations - any recommendations?

    Depends on what mood I am in - I vary between BBC7 for comedy, the Jazz and Blues theme within all BBC stations, Classic FM, Virgin's Classic Rock channel .. my Yahoo radio station - which will suggest music I like from my rated choices (I have tried to get pandora but it won't work with me for some reason ??)

    Cheers

    So that is how you do it.... I'm not that bothered really - If I get bored of my other radio channels I just start up my vast music collection which I backed up from CDs (generally at home) onto my work computer. I get some interesting selections that way - Fantasia from Mozart next to Fat Bottomed Girls by Queen (for example )
