I want to be Cremated and Burn baby Burn by ash or Burn burn by Lostprophets as well as pump it after that. As for my ashes they're to be tossed into the sea!

No Black everyone has to wear a colorful or Hawaiian Shirt.

What song would you choose and how would you like to be buried?
    Hmm thinks fast

Cremation godda be with the coffin going in to "Com'on baby light my fire"

Or a dreamy funeral with Elton Johns "Like a candle in the wind"
Might give the final say to the boys. They'd probably go for "Burn baby, burn!"

Personally I'd like a creamation with a reading followed bu a light buffet and ymy ashes being scatteered on Abergele beach

I'm with Beo. "Always look on the bright side of life" for me. I wouldn't want people not to cry, though, because it's an important part of the grieving process.

Oh, and I'd like my ashes scattered somewhere like the Brecon Beacons.

?? I don't understand. Some people who believe in the soul are afraid of LIVING, they are afraid of eternal damnation or whatever they have been threatened with by the religious control freaks.

Life is not so much about what you have done or what you have achieved (although both are good), what matters most is about what you have become in the process.

My only real request is.. just make sure I'm VERY dead first

The cemetery thing gives me the willy's, I definitely don't want to end up in one, in whatever form So, I suppose in that case, i'll need to be fried and scattered.

Hey, I have an idea.. maybe I could give someone the lovely job of carrying my ashes round to all the venues and weekenders and sprinkle a little of me at every one!

Because if you are afraid of death you are happy to believe there is an afterlife so you can avoid it - with an afterlife, death is not "the end".

A cardboard coffin for me, with a tree planted on top. Many a time I've come up with the perfect track to be played, but for now, all I can think of is "Get This Party Started." - "I'm comin' up so you better get this party started!"

    Sounds good to me too.
'Flying Home' by Lionel Hampton would be my choice.

Ask to be buried with a shovel.

In my early twenties I spent about a month thinking my death through. I wrote a will, got it notorised, wrote up instructions for my funeral, gave them to a friend (the executor of my will) and my parents.

One thing I would advise is if you do want music - look around at where you want the service to be carried out. The accoustics vary hugely.

(People of a sensitive nature should stop reading this now)

Is the first request to be taken literally? i.e. Finish you off well and proper, just to make sure!?

I agree with you about the cemetery, it is full of dead people! oooooh but you would be dead too.

Fried ?? do they use oil these days? is that a new option btw have you seen the film Solyent Green?

You do not need your ashes at the venues Lory. Have you seen the dust in some of them. Yuck! Dust consists mainly of human skin sheddings.

based on "Make Room,Make Room" by harry harrison - a great book. Interestingly the future human recycling plant in Judge Dredds world, "Resyk" actually exists - see here - it claims to be "plastic recycling", we know better though

I've always felt like a good cry at a loved ones funeral is cathartic, and real/honest.

It's interesting that so many people say they want their friends and family not to cry but to laugh and to party. Granted, it would be good to be remembered for being the life-and-soul type that people laugh with and about. . . . but am I the only one narcissistic enough to have thought about their funeral and hoped people care enough to cry?

I've considered giving a message to my loved-ones 'from beyond the grave', and so would like "I hope you dance" (whichever version is my favourite by the time I snuff it).

Oh, and cremation - once any decent organs have been removed.

Some people cry because beacuse the miss the departed person, others because they feel guilty over no spending enough time with that person, and others because that person's life has not been lived fully (died in youth, unfulfilled potential, even "wasted" life).

in other words - love, guilt and pity. I would hate for anyone to cry for me for the last reason.

The same here, I dont really care, will be dead. Would just prefer to be either buried or cremated with minimum fuss and no religion ( dont believe in anybodys god). if anybody wants a party then they can sort out the music themselves!

Re: It's your funeral - what would you choose?

Oh help - there are so many good choices here that some of the obvious ones have gone..

I think I would need a dance track in there - something like Cheek to Cheek - Fred Astaire's version at the beginning,

The Beatles version of A Shot of Rhythm and Blues would rev up the middle finishing with Highland Cathedral or Amazing Grace (preferably single voice or solo pipes) to see me out the door.

I'm not bothered whether I am burned or buried but I think I would have to go with "Bring me Sunshine" from Morecombe and Wise to leave on a lighter note

Still thinking - so I might post later with changes..

Re: It's your funeral - what would you choose?

Not that I've thought about it, at all....

    arrival: Pasacaglia by Karl Jenkins
middle bit: Hallowed Be Thy Name by Iron Maiden
as the coffin goes through to hot bit: Highway to Hell by AC/DC.

There would be an open mic bit for friends to say their piece, a eulogy (is it a or an?!? ) by Armstrong and money to get the first few drinks in...

I belive "an" is to be place before a vowel sound so i think it should be "an eulogy" but it sounds horrible. I note people still, less so now, use "an hotel" despite that only having a vowel sound if you're from Yorkshire "an" is one of those things that people only use for certain things and never think about why

Re: It's your funeral - what would you choose?

Can I replace "Cheek to Cheek" on my list with "Let's face the music and dance!" Fred Astaire version if possible - It kind of fits the bill on at least 2 levels
