I wouldn't have music on its own...., i would have a computer DVD made of me stating all the things i really think about people, that way i get the last word on EVERYTHING.!!!

fab idea trouble! Off the subject of funerals my friend left our school and when she did she went up to everyone she knew and told them exactly what she thought of them!

She was so lucky to get away with it!

Cremated - I haven't decided on the songs yet. No flowers or donations to charity. If there is a collection, it's to be used for a mega wicked party for friends and family, all dancers welcome!

There would be an open mic bit for friends to say their piece, a eulogy (is it a or an?!? ) by Armstrong and money to get the first few drinks in...
    What, no 'Stairway To Heaven'???

Re: It's your funeral - what would you choose?

If I have a church service, I'd like the hymn Lord of the Dance (no, not the Michael Flatley thing, words by Sydney Carter)

"I danced in the morning when the world was begun,
And I danced in the moon and the stars and the sun...

    Chorus:
    Dance, then, wherever you may be;
I am the Lord of the Dance, said he,
And I'll lead you all, wherever you may be,
And I'll lead you all in the dance, said he.

It's not meant to be funny, but if I died tomorrow, I think it would be appropriate. I'm not particularly religious now, but I had a Christian upbringing, and I loved singing it in assembly. Anyway, come the afterlife, it never hurts to have shown Someone your good intentions .

For my cremation, it's going to be Weather With You by Crowded House.

If I want the congregation to smile (and I hope to goodness there will be a congregation), I'm tempted to have the Muppet Show Theme Tune:

It's time to play the music,
It's time to light the lights,
It's time to meet the Muppets on the Muppet Show tonight,

It's time to put on makeup,
It's time to dress up right,
It's time to raise the curtian on the Muppet Show tonight.

...and then the coffin moves along the conveyor. Too wicked?

Funerals should have tears, but should also be a celebration of the life gone.

I'd never have thought of that - but it's a fab idea!
