Well apart from the part about it being God's vengence, he does have a point in terms of reaping what we sow. I'll bet that recent weather patterns can be attributed to global warming somehow. So the advice to
recover a sense of being participants in a web of life with responsibilities to other life forms and to our children
    is actually quite good advice.

Now if only the Americans would take that viewpoint, religious or not, we might have some chance of doing something about global warming.

    But Twirly!

The bishop isn't linking weather problems and floods to an unecological lifestyle, he's linking them to homosexuality!!

Yeah and we all know that there's no gays in Scotland and they all live in or around Rotheringham and/or Sheffield

Twirly wasn't sticking up for him just that one point made sense.. just not in the context he issued it though.

Do Gay's contribute more to global warming I wonder?

That's why I didn't quote that bit - just the bit about personal responsibility. And put my own spin on it

Aaah its all the fault of the gays. The bastards

Although it scary to think this is someone who actually has some influence over people....and his opinion actually gets reported. I'd rather have a Jade Goody quote

The Church of Jade Goody? She'd probably put it down to Terrorist tic-tacs by the radial fumble-mentalists.

Could be worse. Would only take one person like that to be elected in to run the country then what would happen.

The Roman empire introduced Christianity to the world, so he may have a point

Every kind? You used to be able to get married to 12 year old girls legally, have your children work up chimneys at the age of 8, and own slaves... so er...no...peoples lifestyles are substantially better for society now.

erm...so by NOT telling people what to do the government are playing God only if the government protects some people over others are they "playing god" and its clear he means they should set these rules according to christian doctrines - this would eventually lead to a theocracy - which ironically, by definition , is the absolute ultimate in "playing god" in a society. I think Mr.Bish is slightly retarded

Surely thats very "old testament" god that those naughty jews believe in - christians have the loving Jesus who doesnt do that sort of thing! Good to see Fire and Brimstone is alive and well down south

I did like this quote the most I think

Yes they are innocent victims - unless they are these vile poofs who ignore biblical teachings and caused it all...eh ? (flooding, frogs and pesitilence is too good for them. String em up I say!!!)

It happened in the US. Some Bush quotes (all from here ):

"I believe that God wants me to be president."
--According to Richard Land, as quoted in ""Understanding the President and his God"

"We need common-sense judges who understand our rights were derived from God,"
--As quoted in ""Understanding the President and his God"

"We Americans have faith in ourselves, but not in ourselves alone. We do not know--we do not claim to know all the ways of Providence, yet we can trust in them, placing our confidence in the loving God behind all of life, and all of history."

"May He guide us now. And may God continue to bless the United States of America."
--State of the Union Address, January 28, 2003
