Like Icey I don't understand this 'forget to eat' business....

However, as I posted on the hayfever thread, for the last 12 years I have avoided 8 foods, which has forced my average diet to be superfood-healthy. Fortunately I love fruit, veg and salads, which tend to make up the largest part of my diet.

Not eating wheat or dairy products can make eating out problematic unless you're prepared to have salad!

I certainly feel better for it. I bounce out of bed most mornings and feel energised most of the time so for me it's definitely worth it!

for me it's a busy and or stress thing

If I'm busy my body just doesn't seem to yell loud enough that it's hungry so it doesn't get any attention

and with stress a similar thing - although if there is enough stress and I actually try to eat or think about eating then I feel nauseous so pass on the concept

I'm the opposite, I forget 'not' to eat. Sometimes I find myself opening the fridge door on auto-pilot

The good thing is that you've noticed you do it!
Many times have I stood with the fridge door open thinking "What can I eat?" instead of "Am I hungry?". Nowadays I get myself a huge glass of water and wait to see if I still want something.

Being as we are talking about food habits - does anyone here have a juicer? How often do you use it? What made you get one? I regularly use mine for fruit and veg juices, but I hate cleaning it! Is there one out there that's a doddle to keep clean?

Gav must forget that I read this forum. He's ticked the 'eat when I'm hungry' option That's such a lie. He eats everything I prepare for him...even if he is stuffed, he's too polite not to. Bless.

I'm trying to drink a glass of water every time I go in the kitchen too

I was chatting to my neighbour about getting one and she said, "don't get one, until you've borrowed mine" (she said she'd have given it to me, if it hadn't been a present) I'm so glad I did, as... What a palaver!

I made some truly disgusting juices too and these were made from the recipe book that came with it. My own concoctions were even worse!

Also, it costs a fortune, I think it probably costs £10 in Fresh fruit, to make about 8 glasses of juice.

    And all that cleaning..

At the end of the day, I'm lucky, I love fruit, I love the different textures and I like to taste the individual flavours, so I eat it anyway

But if your someone who can't bare fruit and veg, its probably a good way to get the goodness and vitamins inside you, without having to eat loads but other than that, they're a complete waste of time AFAIC.

At weight watchers, they prefer you not to use them too much.

The reason for this is that it's too easy to drink a load of friut and it doesn't fill you up as much as if you took the time to eat it and digest it properly. I suppose it's along the same principle as eating slowly rather than scoffing the lot in two minutes.

By regular I meant two or three times a week max! The hassle involved in cleaning the machine (and the worktop if it leaks) is too much otherwise.
The only reason I do it really is to use the beetroot that keeps arriving in my veg box evey week. I hate the smell of it cooking, but love the taste, so juicing is the best option.

I've got a smoothy maker and it suits 'my' preferences better..

I love mixing apples (peeled and cored) and blueberries, with a splash of shop bought apple juice and yogurt.

Or making banana milkshakes, with frozen yogurt.

The disadvantage is, it won't remove the pith and pips but then again, its good, as leaves all the fibre in.

For about a month, I was drinking a litre of Innocent Smoothie a day (cos I luv them), but I have stopped because I think they are fattening.

It doesn't make sense that they are fattening, but Double Trouble's post above may explain why.

Also the more I drank the quicker I drank a whole carton in one go!
Some days I would have two. Addictive in fact.
They always seem to be on special offer.

    Re: Eating plans..

I eat Between 4 & 6 times daily, this is dependent on what I think my energy output will be. Mainly carbs in the Am and Mainly Protein in the PM, No Alcohol. My weight hasnt changed in 15 yrs, I still have the waist size I had at age 20

The exception that proves the rule is weekenders... Where I eat whatever is going when I can remember to eat, that is!

Oh exercise (dancing isnt exercise ) is key and loadsa coffee

I think this must be a man thing when talking about exercise with men they don't usually class dancing as exercise, I do but then I am a woman and don't half notice a difference in my energy levels when I dance regulary. I also maintain my weight at a good level, I don't want to be skinny I like my curves and feel good when I have flesh on my bones.

However at the moment there is an economic factor involved ,I can't fit into my clothes the same. I plan to do more exercise to sort it out and maybe cut down on carbs a bit and butter and chocolate and you know those kind of things that make you unhealthy . I think its about balance, eat regulary, the good stuff and exercise to fit in with your lifestyle.

You know I say this all the time and I make it sound easy and I know its not, so lets see how long it lasts for this time.

PS mickeyr you do look on your regime

I have to disagree with you there Mickey baby.

Any activity that involves your heart rate going up is good for you. You might not become a beautiful Adonis like you with dancing alone, but it's better than sitting at home eating cake.

It's all relative to your current exercise levels. If you do nothing at all, then walking to the corner shop will do you the power of good.

It's true, too skinny at a certain age and you look like an old prune.
However at the moment there is an economic factor involved ,I can't fit into my clothes the same.
Me too. Oddly I can fit into my tops, but none of my jeans or trousers except one baggy pair.
Luckily I have 2 boys and they let me borrow their jeans so I don't need to waste money on new (temporary?)trousers. But will I ever fit into my old ones?

It's easy to maintain your weight when you smoke, but not so easy when you don't have a cig to puff on.

Also I read that smoking increases matabolism.

    I won't snear at non-smokers flab anymore.

    Re: Eating plans..

INspired by this thread to get back on the healthy eating wagon, I started today positive and with conviction.... I had two slices of brown toast with fruit spread instead of butter... Mid morning I had some pineapple and at lunch I had a baked potato - no butter of course - and salad.... all going well I hear you cry... UNTIL - 2 seconds ago when I scoffed a bag of maltesers...
