a lovely night - although I didn't really find my dancing groove - had lots of fun watching some lovely dancers and home to make it to another one sometime
a speical thanks to Fletch - the hostess with the mostess!!!! Joe for giveing up his room for me and Maddy for sharing hers.
This could potentially be a great venue. It was a shame that the floor was so sticky though - even talc didn't help much.
Unfortunately I wasn't feeling the music either so it wasn't an amazing night for me
This the first time I'd been to one of John Baker's venues, must that it was well organised and I know John did what he could with the floor.
But for me I couldn't get into the music and I think that was down to me. not the DJ. So I feel I didn't do the ladies who danced with me justiice.
Hopefully John will run another freestyle when my is more focused on dancing.
I enjoyed Friday night at Coventry. Took me a while to get into it but spent a little while catching up with Imogen and Tom Baker. Special thanks for Fletch for waiting for me
Thanx to everyone for my dances and to Joe and PawPlay for playing! The Poi Poi's are fab!
I'd second that, quite possibly the most random uninspiring modern jive set I've heard recently with a floor seemingly coated in treacle. Long slow queue at the bar at peak times and temperatures that made it seem like summer had actually arrived. Music seemed to improve a lot in the last half hour.
Sort that lot out and it'd be an excellent venue.
I found it hard to get into the music, as for me it was to hit and miss, also the floor was a problem, but John himself was great and really made a effort to get around to everyone. I still prefer the other venue in Coventry, Ian's one. I will try again as it does take a while for a place to take off but there was a good turn out.
Special thanx to John too for my lovely dance.. even tho I wasn't sure who he was ... story of my life but probably better that way cos then I can't avoid the "scary teachers"!!!
Ok some critism on the music from the DJ on the night, there is no play list for the whole evening but here is a big chunk from about 10pm.

Remember dancing to at least two of these. First 3 Good unusual choices
Can't comment on the rest as I can't put a title to the music.
remember dancing to the ones in bold but like other's can't put the others in my head.... i think tbh the music started off a bit dodgy/ elvis stylee but did get a lot better as more people arrived and the night went on.. i felt kinda sorry for the DJ playing to us lot who didn't get up to dance til later on.. guess no one was brave enough to be first on the floor
