If you really want to disagree with Franck, I suggest you try stuff along those lines:

    - connection is way over-rated. Only people not able to talk-lead their partners need it, and their brains doesn't equal that of a slug. Talking is real dancing.
    - Dancing should be thaught as marching is. R, L, R, L, anybody not grasping this should be shot immediately and without trial.
    - combs are disgusting moves that should be forbidden
    - dirty dancing is such a rubbish movie
    - men with crazy footwork are just trying to hide a premature feet-parkinson, and can't dance on the beat.
    - flirting on the dance floor is an inacceptable pratice of a decadent society, and should be rewarded with death penalty
    - women wiggling their stuff are indecent and should be banned of ceroc venues
    - French people living in Scotland are disgraceful

Well, God - it is, I mean:
    • Weird and anachronistic soundtrack
    • Female "dancer" actress who clearly can't, you know, dance; the scenes with the injured pro show how truly useless she is ("She can move" - no she bleedin' can't, she's rubbish)
    • Responsibility for spawning a whole host of even-more-rubbish "dance" movies, all with the same pants "boy-from-wrong-side-of-tracks-meets-posh-girl" storyline...
    • Dialogue that makes you cringe
    • Dissing pachanga
    • Dirty Dancing II

    You little ignorant hairy worm.

I'll be generously grand enough to inform you that, if 15 years ago, Franck hadn't watched dirty dancing, decided from there he wanted to dance, started learning ceroc, became a teacher, and created this very forum, right now you wouldn't be displaying your bad taste, and occasionally indulging in grumpy moderating-fiddling-around, in this very place.

Now I just hope that Franck, in his wise fatherly indulgence, will forgive your bold outrecuidance, and not here and there swip you from the face of this forum by blocking your account. Pray, little hairy worm, pray for His French Forgiveness now.
    *mwahahah*

    You missed out:

Champagne is over-rated as a drink.
Kilts are only worn by pansies and/or sober introverts.
WSC is the next dance craze.
Cooking is only for floppy haired metrosexuals with an Oedipus complex.

    And

The basics of Argentine Tango should be taught to all Ceroc beginners as a matter of course.

Now there's a dilemma. Would you have your nose put back the way it was?

I thought she was lovely in the movie. She reminded me of a girlfriend I had in the upper sixth. She married my room-mate a few years after we parted. I found an up to date picture of her picture recently, here it is (please don't email her for gossip, I've not spoken to her since 1977). As you can see, she still has the same nose (and, surprisingly, hairstyle). I don't pine after the girlfriend, but it's nice to be reminded that you were once 18 years old, was completely fit, thin and loved to dance - now I'm 50 and love to dance, weigh 28 lbs more, have a dodgy leg, clicking knees, sore feet, a bald spot and a bad attitude.

In my early days of dancing, the top dancer in the area had a nose job. She had an identical twin sister who did not have a nose job..... I wonder what her twin thought of that?

    Both girls were stuningly beutiful

Quite right, Franck and I are girls - and we're going to host a girlie Ann Summers party without Martin on the guest list

Christ Andy, I have a fair few years on you me lad and haven't quite got to that stage of decrepitude. I just might feel better about myself but,

I've a nasty feeling you're exagerating, just a little, for effect.

    Exaggerate, moi?!

IMHO the level of decrepitude depends on how long you've been dancing. If you're 70 and have done no sport or dance or heavy work you could have perfect knees. I think my problems with my knees and feet were caused by decades of dancing, fencing and martial arts, and I KNOW the bad leg was caused by a dance move that I will regret for the rest of my life

You would have thought with that sort of pedigree that Mr McGregor's dance style would be elegant and reserved like a gazelle leaping gracefully across the savannah... or like a Tai Chi master rhythmically and sinously bending his body in honour to the gentle breeze beneath aged and aromatic pine trees in a far off land....

    Question Re: Bouncer-pouncers

In case anyone is wondering what bouncer-pouncers are, they're my word for those forum cuckoos who fly around hyperspace looking for a thread in which they can lay an irrelevant post about peole who bounce their hands, and watch it grow.

They pounce on the thread, and start talking about bouncing!

But how on earth has it become the title for so many posts in this thread?

    … only connect …

    Re: Bouncer-pouncers

What's wrong with Dirty Dancing II? It's nothing special, but then - it never tries to be. I quite enjoyed it. Harmless, inoffensive, reasonably entertaining little movie.
