A major feature of this forum is off-topic replies.

If people start changing the reply heading, then anyone considering replying will have to check the forum area, and the thread title and the post title before being able to post something completely off-topic.

That's 50% more effort to be off-topic. And modern western society is trying to reduce effort (very, very approximate equivalent of 'increase productivity').

I'm more highly evolved than you are!

    Preserve the bowliverse!
If by "more highly evolved" you mean using an operating system and browser that haven't been updated in 6 or 7 years, compared with my browser and OS of choice that were last updated earlier this month, then you've got me!

    I've got you!

    (Official!)

(Did you want me to get you? Is this a Freudian thing?)

(Ah, but have I got you where I want you? )

My highly evolved fins enable me to change title bars at will!

And my highly evolved visual ability enables me to recognise hyphens where yours doesn't!

I've got you … under my skin!

ok this started on moving topics and now its gone off at some random tangent...I'm totally lost here.

I am feeling the lure but not for McEnroe! More the amazing ability of Andy Roddik. He's got an amazing serve!

Unhappy Re: small earthquake in Chile ---------- not many goldfish

There was a small earthquake in Chile last Friday when Wimbledon 5th seed and world number 6, the Chilean Fernando Gonzales, was defeated 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 8-6 by the relatively unknown Serbian, Janko Tipsarevic.

    Not many goldfish commented.

... and my entirely unevolved abilities mean I have only just finished editing this scathingly witty reply, limited as I am to manually punching the papertape, with a wee guillotine attached to the hole template. Darn, dropped the pin again. Lord, those icons are a pain! Now, if the magic tape doesn't gum up the reader again, we should

JCB, ducasi and I are mortified at the way your stone-age technology has nevertheless enabled you to produce such a brilliantly-conceived riposte!

We can only be relieved that our embarrassment would doubtedless be even greater had you not run out of woad!

… keep right on to the end of the woad … !

Hmm... An interesting mix of real quotes and "copy and pasted" HTML things that look like quotes. How bizarre!

I didn't realise you could embed HTML into vBulletin - that allows all kinds of amusing possibilities... (a couple of which I've just experimented with...)

These "things that look like quotes" are actually higher organisms (than quotes) called tables, but of the single-cell variety.

They have a surrounding membrane which makes them superficially appear to be mere quotes, but I expect they will soon evolve by dividing into the more usual multi-cellular tables.

The HTML molecule, in its characteristic double-pretzel shape, is not bizarre, but is actually evolutionarily superior to the "real" things that you and I are used to.

No doubt fish looked bizarre when they first developed fingers!

Do not mock what you do not understand!

I suspect we are at the M-J boundary, witnessing the start of a pre-Janglian explosion!

    Nice evolving, JCB!

    What a perceptive question, DavidY!

You are clearly a scientist and philosopher, like myself!

There is a multitude of bowliverses, which I have deduced to be connected by some vast unimaginable "hyperbowl".

I have examined the so-called "beyond", and have found it to be nothing more than a "virtual universe" projected in different ways onto the boundary of each bowliverse.

    I hope this helps.

The BBC has just proved to us (again) that the UK is full of pet mad people hasn't it? (or is that too much hyperbole? )

OK ok I'll get my breathing apparatus and go for a swim.
