Hey fellas!
I know I'm only new here but …
Don't you know you can change the title bar of your posts?
There's just been 7 posts titled "Re: Bouncer-pouncers" which have nothing whatever to do with the title!
This thread has somehow developed 3 different themes: Vertical tension, tension and compression, and bouncing.
It makes it a lot easier to follow a theme if one can tell roughly what the post is about from the title.
I used a new title recently, and everyone (except for mikeyr ) just copied it without blinking!
Pretend you're at school, writing an essay: if it's worth writing, isn't it worth giving a good title to?
(I wonder how long this title will go on, before people notice?
he he he )

Ah!
Everyone's so concerned with speed nowadays!
(But everyone, except Gadget, used Quote boxes, so surely they didn't use the quick reply button? )

I'm really upset about these posts being moved. From my own thread.
Never mind the right thread, they're not even in the right section now.
Does anyone know how I can lobby to have them moved back?
I've searched the FAQ, but found nothing.
(Am I wasting my time? Is anyone even going to see this in this section?)
Franck.
There's an A.P.P. for that!
Ah, you're a proper member now...
Thread-splitting comes under "moderation duties" - as Franck says, we tend to moderate-for-focus some areas (e.g. dance discussions) more than others (e.g. chit-chat).
I am
Lots of people use the "new posts" button to see topics, so from that point of view, it's not a big deal if a thread gets moved.
The first one was certainly on topic. It included:
Surely I was entitled to post the above to ask people to make the discussion clearer in my own thread?
Plus, the thread was getting a bit stodgy (alright, partly my fault as well).
So I took a lot of trouble to think up a good title, and to make the post a little amusing.
Surely I'm entitled to give my own thread a little light relief?
Other posts (all the ones on bouncing, or all the ones on compression, or both) could have been moved to another thread, with considerable benefit to the original thread.
But the moderators didn't do anything. Instead, when I try to "moderate" the thread myself (my own thread, remember), not by moving or changing anything, but simply by making a suggestion in a fun way, the moderators pick on innocent little me.
By all means leave the second and third posts here, but please can you move the first one (#387063) back where it belongs and makes sense and where it will cheer people up?
Alternatively, how about a compromise: if I were to post a new version of #397063 in my original thread, leaving the original here, would the moderators move it again, or would they let it stay?
(BTW, ducasi's wrong, isn't he? I've used the quick reply button for this post and the last one (I'm using aqua instead of orange), and I have changed the titles.)
The title doesn't look any different...
On the subject of your post and complaint... I had thought of splitting up the thread into two or three different ones, but the strands are a bit intertwined, so I just left it to see how it went... If you have a problem with a moderating decision, but thing to do is either use the "report post" button on one of the associated posts, or PM a moderator and ask...

Yes, I did know about changing titles, and, yes I am somewhat laggardly about using this feature, and finally I only found this thread because I tend to read everything geekish, and I agree with the decision to move the thread here.
If the "quick reply" button is the one marked "reply" to the right of the "quote" button, then I have used it to change the title, both in aqua and in Ceroc orange format (if you look carefully, ducasi, you'll see I've kept adding hypens: - -- --- ----).
This is no fun.
Sorry Goldfish, I clicked quick reply, and I can't see how to change the title without clicking [Go Advanced]
???
Am I missing something?
And no emoticons. :-(
Although... yes! if I switch modes, I could code one in! I think. If I knew where they were stored...which I don't :--(
But people will see these when they log on and click New Posts.
I dunno. I am playing around with message posting method and format. This seems to me at least to belong in a tech thread.
Now I have to send this without previewing it.
I am not liking this. (inhales deeply and clicks [Post Quick Reply] )
So how do you do it without "going advanced"?
The aqua theme vs. the metallic theme vs the ceroc orange theme doesn't seem to make a difference.
It's possible, I guess, that there's extra options depending on what browser you're using and/or what message editor your options are set to...
Otherwise, I can't see a way to change the title – and nor seemingly can quite a few other folks.

Hmm … I've just clicked both buttons for the same message, and noticed that I get the same url:
http://www.cerocscotland.com/forum/n...reply&p=387182
(Though if I click the "New Reply" button at the top or bottom of the whole page, I get:
http://www.cerocscotland.com/forum/n...ote=1&p=387182)
Perhaps I should be getting a different url for the quick reply button?
(I wondered why the quick reply page looked so familiar!)
(BTW, I'm using Internet Explorer 5.1 for Mac.
And my message editor was set to "Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing". But I've just tried both the other options, and the quick reply button gave me the same.)
Anyway, even if other people get different quick reply pages, how they could have used quick reply and Quote boxes?
And how could you not have noticed my hyphens?
like this you mean ? just cut'n'paste and type in the tagshow they could have used quick reply and Quote boxes?

Why? That'll stop me changing the title bar, won't it?
