if its eating and drinking normally - it is not rabies. Sounds like it has been, or is being, poisoned. Any neighbours that hate cats?
So here I am sitting at home and staring at me through the patio window is my cat or maybe its someone elses. Not sure what is wrong with it but its doing a very good 'Turner and Hooch' impression with drool hanging down each side of its mouth. Its been like it now for 2 days but is eating and drinking normally. Is it rabies?
I let him in last night and this morning his basket was full of slobber!
The vet has no idea what is wrong! anyone else have a pet like this?

It looks like someone is trying poison your cat.
Do you have any cat haters near by? It's possible to kill a cat quite easily with headache tablets and other household products.
I think you should get your moggy down to the vets!
I found this, I hope it helps

Last it was the second resort! first being the vet. I asked on here as I know lots of other forumites have moggies of their own. Vets just say bring the cat in and will charge me £100 for sticking a themometer up his bum and will possibly give him an injection. Usually followed up but another £100 appointment the following week. Sis reckons he may have eaten slug pellets.
Going to North Finchley vets later so watch for a big box on your door stop Mr James
This wouldnt be one of the pets you were trying to off load last year!
