SMOKE FREE...I cant wait!!!
In the ‘old days’ we use to winge (some more then others) or support (a few) the habit of smoking in parts/areas of ceroc /jive premises
We highlighted some premises who had a smoke free venue and some booed those that didnt.
Im pleased to say under continued Forum pressure (and AM campaign ) from 1st July 2007
---------------------------
You wont be allow to smoke inside in any premises and also the smoke free law will apply to public transport and work vehicles used by more than one person.
No smoking signs will have to be displayed in all smoke free premises and vehicles.
Staff smoking rooms and indoor smoking areas will no longer be allowed.
From 1 July it will be a criminal offence not to comply with the new smoke free law. There will be fixed penalty notice fines or larger fines imposed by the courts for anyone who fails to comply with the new law.
------------------------------------
Don’t tell me the forum doesn’t work
I think scotland got this last year , Wales this year but not many people live in these places so didnt get the national coverage. I heard without the smoke in pubs you can smell BO more and some pubs smell more damp etc .We will see

SMOKE FREE...I cant wait!!!
civilised countries have had this for a while and civilised Ceroc venues (thanks Franck) have had it much, much longer
I had a bit of a giggle whilst listening to the radio today... how people try to cash in on every oportunity... There's an advert for some club in London, saying...
COME AND HAVE YOUR LAST FAG IN A CLUB WITH US AND REMEMBER THIS MOMENTOUS NIGHT FOREVER!
I can't wait ! We went out for Sunday lunch yesterday and there were loads of people still smoking inside (as it was pouring) and I rejoiced at the fact this was the last time i'd have to suffer!

Shht woman.. you're ruining my carefully crafted clean living image.
People will start thinking I have a life next then I'll be forbidden to enter Geek nirvana when I pass on !!
and besides.. my alcohol intake is so slight .. I have had.. what? 1 cider and 1 pear thing in how many weeks?
still , it's still nice to go into a boar and had a nice soft (or occasional cider) drink without coming out like an Arbroath Smokie
Ok so I'm Not Tea-Total but it's easier to say that than "I'm tea-Mostly" and then explain myself for 10 mins.
Just as I'm not "vegetarian" I eat meat and fish, or are fish classified as root tubers these days
You think that's bad? I caught this one from above
I originally spelled Pubs.. with an E between the b and the s .
I'd rather THEY didn't smoke thank you. You've been careless with your cigarette ash if they are smoking !!
Robbie William's Hummer stopped to let me over a pelican crossing on my way to Chiswick Ceroc on Saturday night.
Reckon he was on his way to Glastonbury.
Wonder how Robbie, a chronic smoker, will fare in smokeless zones.
Will VIP bars just cough up and pay the fines?
I hope Portugal will soon pick up the no smoking campaign. This is certainly one of the downsides to this place.People smoke EVERYWHERE.I have even seen them in restaurants, smoking at the table between courses.
You lucky people
I personally don't mind my clothes smelling of fags by the end of a work night, both me and my clothes have to be cleaned anyway as they stink of beer and god knows what else by the end of the night.
As for the comments of some pubs etc smelling of BO I'd much rather smell smoke than BO, I work in a nightclub that's been nicknamed 'The sweatbox'
That's interesting - I've only been to Portugal once, to Lisbon. My friend and I were quite surprised at the lack of smoke in many of the bars - and several had notices up asking people not to smoke, and asking them to preserve the quality of Lisbon's air. It really surprised me at the time - I expected the bars to be very smoky. Maybe I was just lucky
Great news - some of the local pubs here have been smoke free for some time now and apart from beer, aftershave and perfume, I haven't detected any 'unwanted' odours!
Roll on Sunday!

I think it was the Weatherspoons chain here that marketed themselves as a Family No Smoking chain. They sold themselves as No Smoking for about 6 months before our ban went up. They did quite good pr job, and I think won a lot of regulars before everyone else was forced to go non smoking.
It is very interesting to me, that England's pr seems to have gone the other way
Roll on No smoking everywhere !
Anywhere I have been dancing I haven't noticed the smell of BO taking over where smoke left off.
Ahh fresh air
