What's so wrong with Nantwich? Or have I mis-understood?

Disclaimer: I'm banned from Nantwich so my views may be interpreted as biased by that

Ok ... so I may be biased but the reports I get back from my dancing mates is that its not up to much (despite a good instructor) compared to the local independents. I was asking StokiBloke and Twirly to comment because they've actualy been there fairly recently and they could give a more informed and unbiased comment.

I'll PM you re. the banning bit Gus.

About the venue itself, I've only been to a couple of class nights (which were just ordinary Ceroc run-of-the-mill nights - nothing great, nothing really bad), but I do attend most freestyles - and I really can't think why anyone would think they are so bad as to be 'have to be paid to go there' type venues

I'm also perhaps a bit biased the other way, in that I'm on good terms with the franchisee, but even so, I just can't for the life of me work out why it's apparently held in such low esteem?

Sorry - this is way off topic now, I know

Sort of getting back on thread, and away from specifics.....

This can apply to ANY club .... given the range of things that a dancer can hold dear from a freestyle: floorspace, music, heat levels, friends there etc .... you could have two dancers at the same venue with radically different experiences of the night. One would gladly spend £10 on the freestyle, another wouldn't give you 2p.

Oh yes, I fully agree with that..music tastes perhaps being the biggest seperator?

My order of ticking all the boxes:
    1. Volume levels, is it capped?
    2. Quality of the sound system, is it fuzzy?
(I'm not really representative on the last 2 points though, because of my deafness).
    3. Who is the DJ?
    4. The floor, is it like wading through cement? (often can't guage till there).
    5. Heat levels.

Re: Ceroc Prices for freestyle only

At Bossa Nova in Worcester we have an experimental Ceroc night based on a single "beginner plus" class, and no intermediate class (there's a beginner review upstairs instead), so it works out as £6 for 2-3 hours of freestyle, which is very reasonable. I think it's a good system. After all, if intermediates want to learn more moves there are plenty of opportunities to do so elsewhere.
