I'm really looking forward to this and to Cruella's charity event the week before. I've been to Daventry previously for the Polar Freezestyle, the SINderella Ball and Saturday Night Fever and they were all excellent events.

Given the late finishes, a number of us will be staying at the following nearby hotel (5 mins from the venue by taxi):

Paramount Daventry Hotel Daventry | Hotel Northamptonshire

You obviously *ahem* don't know me very well! I have no sense of direction whatsoever when driving - doesn't matter that I've been there before - honest

I even had sat nav LOL but they were doing lots of roadworks and I think somehow I managed to press a diversion key that took me of all major roads so ended surrounded by nothing but fields and country lanes....got home about breakfast time!

What's everyone going to wear? Are you going Dirty Dancing the movie or dirty dancing raunchy?

For those travelling from the south, be aware this Saturday night junction 10 of the M1 will close at 8pm with signed diversions in place: M1 Closures - 30/10/07 (scroll down)

Those of you living to the south or west of London can cut across from Daventry to the M40 via the A5 and A43. I used this route home after the Tour de Dance and got home quicker than I usually do using the M1.

tends to be quicker to take this route from the M40 (junction 10) than junction 11 (A361 to Daventry)

Based on the experience of getting back from Daventry at cira 2am last week I wouldn’t attempt to follow the diversion and as SF suggest steer well clear

Couldn't leave for Daventry before now as I HAD to watch Dr Who. Yes I know I could watch again but it's just not the same. Anyway watched it. Loved it. Put Daventry address into sat nav - SAXON Suite. Sat nav says 'beware this is a restricted area'!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!

If I don't return you know what's happened..................

    Daventry

OK the boring bit .....I had a fab time

I was challenged to go into the DWAS which I never enter, thanks 'sway' poor bloke (kevin) he hadn't been dancing long and got me, his first comment to me was, it must be very difficult for you girl's to dance dirty with someone you don't know, Bless!

We came 3rd and I swopped my wine for chocolates which I scoffed on the way home.

Well, done the lads, Jiveaddicted & tall Alan from Coventry, 'Jiveaddicted' I think you got popped and he couldn't stop just wish I wasn't dancing so I could have watched properly.

Fab sets by Marc Forster, Rob Ambridge and John Baker

I had so many fab dances but special thanks to Phil Roberts the look on SilverFox's face when he turned to see who had bounced into him it was a classic

Gerry, thanks for my WCS lesson I thought I was OK till then (i'm crushed) just have to think of a way you can make it up.

Not may people teamed, but I think it was a bit difficult especially for the men, but BARMPOT you make a wonderful Patrick Swayzee.

Re: Dirty Dancing Daventry (30-June-07) Who's up for it?

I had a really good night

However previous Daventy Freestyles have been abso-bloomin'-lutely awesome, and this one wasn't for me. Maybe due to tiredness or something. I perked up a bit towards the end though.

Really great to see Little Em and her Gems from Scotland. Good cabaret and they're all lovely to dance with.

There didn't seem to be much publicity about the theme, or fancy dress. I don't think I remember seeing anywhere what we were supposed to wear.

Also it's a shame the large room had to finish so early (1am). Lots of people were still enjoying dancing there, and they had to choose between squeezing into the smaller room or going home.

But overall still a really good night.

There's also something special about driving home watching the dawn gets lighter. It was pretty much daylight when I got home at 04:30.
    Love dance, will travel

I have to agree with DavidY here.. The Daventry freestyle last night was good but not amazing. I found I couldn't settle in either room until about 12.30 a.m. and then they shut the main room so me and jamie had to get our remaining "bounciness" out during the last song Finally settled in the blues room and had an amazing last few hours but a little disappointed compared to the last Daventry events that I have attended. Don't know if it was due to personal tiredness, general atmosphere, some regular faces not being there, etc etc.

Special thanks to tall Alan for the jam donut - just what i needed at the right time , also to JiveAddicted for my crisp dance , to Mr darcy for a fabulous dance (and to HelenB for persuading me to ask him ), to Matt for helping me to get into it for giving me my first enjoyable dance of the night in the blues room , to Lost Leader who I haven't seen since SP, to Marc for playing my current favourite song at the end of the night in the blues room and for sabotaging mine and jamie's dance to it again and to everyone else I have probably forgotten

Still looking forward to the next Daventry when hopefully the absolute amazingness will be restored! to Emma and her team for organising these events
