I just have this craving to go to Ireland, and jump (with a horse, of course) the Irish stone walls...
Always exciting to wonder if you're gonna break your back on vacation

Wasn't once enough?? Or did you enjoy the attention you got when you were in hospital with a broken back som much you've got to do it again???

Well, my BIG holiday for this year is (almost) sorted. I'm off to Auckland for a couple of weeks in November! Now I just need to book my ticket - but first I'm trying to persuade my parents to look after my dog for 3 weeks instead of 2..... 2 weeks in NZ just isn't enough.... Oh, and I definitely need to invest in a new camera before I go!

But Little Monkey! It's all healed up again! And it'd be so much fun comparing US to Scotland hospitals! And it made for some great pictures too!

Have had some great experiences horse riding whilst on holiday. One that stands out for me was riding a beautiful piebald around the Ring of Kerry. I felt like a real Irish Gypsy girl.

Vilemo have a great time, but don't break your back, I usually get covered in bruises after my experiences horse riding. I have always loved horses even as a child, it must be the Irish in me, they are are magnificent creatures.

    Re: Holiday suggestions?

Saw a new coach holiday in the paper.

It's a bit like the Magic Bus I should think.

Sets off from London and it passes loads of places, but he ones I remember in geographical order are -

    London
    Moscow
    Ferry across the Baring Sea
    Vancouver
    The Rockies
    Chicago
    Ends at New York.

    One way is around £4,000
There are return tickets too if you don't want to fly back to London (not included)

Some meals and all accomodation covered.

I'd rather take the train - Orient Express will take you to Paris, Rome, Isanbul, Moscow and Siberia.

    Re: Holiday suggestions?

    Thread Bump

Kenya - I know all about the safari stuff but am forming a small notion for three or four days at the beach too - but am crap at picking hotels as they all look much the same in the pretty pictures sooooo

Anyone recommend a particular hotel in Mombassa, Malindi, Lamu or elsewhere?
Would be on my own so would like no kids and not a honeymoon specialist (not to narrow it down much ).
Likewise - anyone want to warn me off a dump?

And can one take trips into Mombassa or other towns to wander about and hear some history easily enough from these beach resorts?

    thankyouverymuch

Galway would be the place for that - lots of stone walls and Connemara ponies - great little jumpers (used to have one).

No holiday plans but was thinking of a cheapie week in the sun in October - but suddenly have an urge to do something a lot more adventurous! But sadly can't afford it, the cheapie or nothing methinks, probably nothing...ah well, I did spend a week working in Portrush last month...

Nope, its up at the North Coast of Northern Ireland. And it wasn't really a holiday, but I did get a few hours at the beach one afternoon and the sun was actually shining!

    Re: Holiday suggestions?

Anyone anything to say for or against Cambodia as a holiday destination?
I may be lucky enough to have a work trip to Penang coming up and having enjoyed time in KL and Singapore last time and with Bangkok possibly out of bounds I'm wondering about parking up for a week in a nice hotel in Phnom Penh and taking some bus trips here and there.
Would be delighted to hear any thoughts from those wot 'ave done it afore like.
