Hey Mac, love the photos. I've uploaded a Utopia weekend album to my profile on Facebook (careful it's as adictive as this can be) if anyone cares to look (I'm just me on facebook - Ian Oliver). If I get time later in the week I'll put some up up on here too. I'll see you snapping away on the dance floor later.

P.s I don't who the Jiver mini is but the class Vectra (?) next to it is me.

Many thanks to all the lovely people at Utopia last night.. I have been getting over being poorly for a while and was lovely to catch up with lots of my favourite people.. did not dance an awful lot, but the atmosphere was lovely.. (and the sweeties too)!

...music fab, lighting fab.. in fact all fantastic.. this event is always a joy to attend and many thanks to all concerned.. just wish I had felt well enough to stay til the end..

I don't know, but I guess it was because they arrived late and were in a real hurry to get in and dance.

(In their defence, there was a bundle of people in the way that didn't seem to want to move)

    Re: Utopia Weekender 13th 14th & 15th July

I had a fantastic time at Utopia on Friday (the only one I could make )

I can't quite put a reason why it was so good

the music was excellent as always
the people were great as always
the atmosphere was great as always

I was in a great mood from the start of the evening. I had many, many fantastic dances and still didn't manage to dance with everyone I wanted to. I also did a lot more socialising then I normally do. The journey home was great too (ZW - those tunes are spot on, can't wait 'till SP)

But, credit where credit's due, Val, Dave, Vince you sure do know how to create a fab night which continually attracts a great bunch of people and inspires me to improve

You will definitely see me at the next one....

    Re: Utopia Weekender 13th 14th & 15th July

I had a good time on the Friday.

I enjoyed the music, many tunes were new to me, with only the odd one that I didn't enjoy. I am sure I heard at least one tune repeated though

It was very hot in the room and I think I sweated more that night than at all the previous Utopias combined but it was a very muggy evening.

Floor was great - made sliding possible though it looked like a talc pit when I first walked in.

Gender balance not so good - seemed to be a lot of women over but that could just be my perception. I don't envy the organisers when trying to get that balance right though.

I noticed that there were more women early on, but didn't find it was a problem for the rest of the evening. In fact, several times it was men standing on the side I noticed, not women

But don't forget Helen that there are

    * men
    and there are
    * men that the ladies want to dance with

and the 2 groups don't always overlap

    shall I rephrase...

there were men (that the ladies normally want to dance with) standing on the side

Gender balance was fine for me - in fact it was the best night I've had where I didn't have any problems getting a dance (with men the ladies normally want to dance with )

But, in response to another comment made on your original post, boy was it hot

Oooh! I shouldn't have worried about the music. The music was absolutely fantastic. .

Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday afternoon were all amazing. Different people to dance with at each session to it kept it all really fun and interesting.

    The floor was fantastic too.

    And the classes too.

I had so many great dances and I don't like to mention in case I forget anyone. I think a lot of my stars are not on the forum anyhow.

Special mention to Fletch as you make a guy feel special and be mad

Special mention to Dirty D - welcome to steal and swap - you are a natural.

Solitaire - you probably won't read this but you are sensational .

and talking of been crushed would anyone like to enlighten me on the comment about me bouncing, pleaseeeeeee tell me I haven't got the Midlands bounce, they couldn't have been referring to anything else, they don't need any support. i'm not sure that changing the comment from bounce to vibrate was any better.... ......stop digging
