I second the Librarian's suggestion for a general national dress theme. Let's see those stereotypes!

Hey .. all you need is one Construction worker, a Police officer, an Native American Indian chief, a Cowboy, A Soldier and some guy in biker leathers and you could be sure of fulfilling someone's fantasies .. not necessarily of the sex you intended though

Excellent! What's the national dress of Amazonia?

and can we have any period in history or just current?

Seems like school uniform is reasonably related to the theme of "uniforms".

Anyways, I vote for a theme of "hats".

Fair enough, I just didn't think the theme itself was very good, in 20-20 hindsight. Ideally, you need a theme to encourage - or even force - creativity in participants, rather than just "tarts & vicars" or whatever.

That'll be a metaphorical "vote" then...

I did indeed. Black shirt and waistcoat.

I was going to go for the "waiter" look, but I thought the blackshirt look was beter, then I could pretend* to be a Fascist Moderator. OK, OK, I just wanted to wear black.

I've added a poll to this thread, feel free to vote away.

I mean, it's not as if we talk about SP much, so this'll make a nice change.

I can't see many of the ideas above on the poll.

Given the likely result, can't we all come as outsize Policemen and their spouses?

    How about "Secret identities"?

Everyone comes disguised, then as part of the fancy dress parade, they switch to their alter egos.

Imagine a room full of Sylvester Sneeklys, Penrod Pooches and John Reids

Given that outsized Policeman and spouse are in semi-retirement from themed events at Southport ..... it would be a great honour to us to see you all dressed as such
