    Re: Madeleine

Not following any of Barry's logic, my gut feeling is that Madeleine's alive.

Stick with it, it's fairly simple.
ITEM 1. Evidence in favour of kidnapping, independent of the parents: 2 items, the girl's absence and dubious sightings of a man.

ITEM 2. Evidence in favour of death and/or persuasively contradicting a kidnap: about a dozen pieces of good, hard circumstantial evidence.
my gut feeling is that Madeleine's alive.
Well, gut feelings are useless for almost everything apart from deciding whether and when to eat.

    Logic can be dubious.
What looks good on paper can be bad in reality, as in the case of a prospective suitor.

Or take housing. The housing estates of the 60's/70's with their communal walkways were in reality terribly unsafe from a security standpoint - except for the villains.

Take Broadwater Farm Estate in Tottenham - the scene of the riots and murder of PC Blakelock in the early 80's. The architect who designed it won an award - yet no one wanted to live there.

    Call it instinct then.

I suppose it might seem that way, especially if...

...you think these sort of things have anything to do with 'logic'. The height of the buildings or the square footage might be susceptible to logic (though only just) but the utility and/or beauty and/or quality of the estates is at THE OTHER END of the spectrum from logic.
    Call it instinct then.
Well, my instinct says otherwise and the evidence points the other way too!

Hmmm, the picture I saw in the papers this morning looked like a little girl of similar age and with a similar hairstyle, but it was far too poor quality to say any more than than. I suspect that there have been millions of girls of Maddie's age with the same hairstyle.
Although I do also agree that it's pretty shoddy that there's so many potential leads that have been ignored.
