Their called street lamps.
Without wishing to sound like I am under the influence, I just wondered whether anyone else saw the strange lights that were in the sky in the south east this evening. A mass of orange coloured lights that were kind of hanging in the air for about 10 minutes. Before I get any comments - no I haven't been sniffing any dodgy substances but I am a little freaked out by it.
Their called street lamps.
It seems unlikely that it was Aurora Borealis.

Leroy (Satchel) Paige (1906-1982)
Mickey Mouse's girlfriend, Minnie, made her film debut, along with Mickey, in "Steamboat Willie" on November 18, 1928.
That date is recognized as her official birthday.
There is a toffee crisp wrapper floating in the air above me
Well we think we have it worked out - in the far east during celebrations, people launch things called 'fire lanterns'. They are like mini hot air balloons, which are lighted and then launched. A quick look on t'interweb shows that they are frequently mistake for UFOs when viewed at a distance.
Some fire lanterns:
This is very similar to the colours etc we saw:
In the night sky:
We had no idea what they were at the time though, and it really freaked us out I can only assume they were fire lanterns - they were eminating from the same source (I thought they were embers from a large bonfire at first) and floated slowly skywards for about 5-10 minutes before fading away.
OK Just to prove that TT and I weren't going mad - the lights have been discussed on the radio this morning and here is an article in our local paper about them. Proves what we thought that they are fire lanterns from a wedding.
The story is online here, with a pic as well.
