    Acetone in Petrol

Apparently it improves MPG and BHP.

If it was the case why is it not added to fuel as standard?

    Has anyone tried it?

You should try it WF and see if you can drag your S Class into double figures

Tempted. Got abit of work to do on the car first ie repair the fire damage.

Wouldn't be worth doing without fitting an MPG meter either.

    Nail varnish remover??

Hmm, wouldn't this invalidate your warranty? or insurance? or something?

    I don't drive, don't have a car so I don't know.

    interesting though!

Alot of nail varnish remover is now Acetone free. Would opt for pure acetone anyhow.

Dont have a warranty on an 20 year old car. Wouldn't invalidate insurance either.

If it improved MPG to save more money than the cost of adding the acetone, and it had no adverse affects, would the petrol companies not already be doing it, especially as the reference claimed it reduced unburnt hydrocarbons escaping from the engine, reducing pollution as well?

    1. Fill up tank to full.
    2. Reset trip meter (if it's working )
    3. Drive around until tank is empty (about 50 miles in your Merc)
    4. Refill tank to full and note trip mileage.
    5. Keep receipt.
    6. Work out mpg from miles on trip and litres needed to fill up.
    7. Buy acetone and stick in car.
    8. Repeat process, note difference.

Yeah but might not be that acurate. currently getting about 20 mpg out of it on a run!!!!!!

Getting 60 litres in a tank and will only run smoth on premium.

With regards to the adding it to petrol google told me that petrol companies do but only to the legal limits required (the more MPG you have the less petrol you need to buy. Petrol comps don't like that). Adding alittle more gives you the oommph.
