I thought she knew the lemon cake was ok - I checked the lemon curd bottle while we were there to make sure. I make that and the victoria sponge with margarine not butter. Possibly I realised the choc brownies were ok only after they'd been scoffed

Could a carrot cake topping be fudged with a cheese-substitute? Lots of vegan stuff available in supermarkets now, there might be something that could stand in for philly.

Can I just check first on who you're travelling down with, to decide what cakes will be left (Trampy and KillingTime are you in different cars this time?)

All excited now, just need to ask work nicely not to run me into the ground before then!

It's not just the Little Yellow Fishy that's dairy intolerant – Freudian Hips is too!

I know! She told me last night when we were dancing. But don't worry, there should be plenty to chose from for both of them, by the sounds of it!

Oh, and BeccaB - only me and Trampy in the car this time, and I'll put padlocks on most of my cake tins...

I know, but I don't have easy acces to any big supermarkets, having no car. So it's the ingredients I can get from my local shops, where there's not really a lot of choice...... Besides, I don't think it's going to be much of a problem, as there's going to be so many cakes to chose from anyway, both non-dairy and others!

I'll see what I can find, and experiment. I'm sure McJester will help eat the results...

    Re: Southport june07 - LM's book cafe

Right, then. There will be a HUGE carrot cake (will keep some of it without frosting for the dairy intolerant peeps), a blueberry cheesecake (this will disappear in one sitting, so be qick), and a very chocolaty chocolate cake with lots of chocolate.

Maybe also a banana and chocolate cake, if you're lucky.....

Looks like I won't have much to do on Saturday between Jordan and Tat's class (finishes at 2pm) and Yuko's styling class at 4pm, so........ Cake, anyone?

Oh, and Trampy's threatening to leave very early on Friday, so will have lots of time to chat and eat cakes on Friday afternoon, too!

How about nut-free carrot cake, for the nut intolerant too?

Oh, and yes, the blueberry cheesecake will disappear in one sitting. At the service station on the M6 where we stop for a break on the way down!! Sorry guys!

Oh, and I'll freeze the cheesecake, too, so it won't be ready to eat until at least late Friday afternoon....

Alrighty, I'm about to start the bake-down to Southport...

So far the list looks like this:
    Banana cake (nut-free)
    Lemon cake
    Gingerbread
    Treacle scones
    Chocolate walnut brownies

    Any other requests?

Oh dear..... I've had a bit of an accident! I came across a recipe for white chocolate cheesecake (baked), so I accidentally baked it. Whoops! That means there'll be two cheesecakes this weekend! Oh, how will they both get eaten???

Ah, thank you Caro. Such a friend. I know it's a hard task, and I'm so glad you're willing to face the challenge.

PS - Trampy, the cheesecakes will be FROZEN, and in cake tins with extra heavy duty chains and padlocks!

    Re: Southport june07 - LM's book cafe

Just having a look at this thread regarding the Book part:

What sort of books should we bring - Books we want to actually get rid of or books that are swapped and we will get them back?
