Does the forum really have celebrities?

Do we have an A-list, B-list, etc?

I guess I might be one, though nobody has asked for my autograph ever... Maybe I'm just a Z-list forum celeb.

Anyhoo, I think I need a poll, dear Moderator. The options should be:

    Beo's scrummy carrot cake
    Gorgeous chocolate chestnut cake
Really chocolatey chocolate cake with lots of chocolate
    Rooooooooooooobarb cake

Done! Made it public, hope that's OK.

Can I be awkward and ask for a banana cake without chocolate?

Otherwise I favour the carrot cake or the cheesecake.

    I want two votes!!!

Oh no!! Sorry to hear that! I'll just have to send a big chunk of cake to you with one of your friends...... Or bake this cake at another event you might be attending.

    *Sigh*
There's always an awkward one, isn't there......

But even if you don't have two votes, you may be lucky. I'm not just going to bake one cake, just have to find out which ones people would prefer. And then bake the ones with most votes!

You can indeed. That's my second unofficial vote, too. So that means it's actually got 5 votes so far....

Oh, and I now have to make a dairy free cake, too. Special guests coming....

Good thing Trampy's got lots of room in his car, really!

    Re: Southport june07 - LM's book cafe

I simply cannot resist a decent slice of cake so I strongly suspect that my urge to visit LM's cafe will be overwhelming. Will try to remember to bring a book swap as well. Yet another thing for me to look forward to at my first ever Southport - bring it on!

    Re: Southport june07 - LM's book cafe

I can help bake! Please may I?

One small point of disagreement - Victoria Sponge is not boring with a really nice jam in the middle

Any requests? Duplicates of ones at Blaze* or indeed any other varieties. I can even do treacle scones...

    LC

    * banana cake, gingerbread, choc walnut brownies, choc orange cake, victoria sponge and lemon cake

Doh, what a question.... So guys, is more cakes a good or a bad thing? I think I know the answer to that one.... Just bake to your heart's delight, Oh Goddess of Baking! Nobody would ever try to (or want to) stop you, your cakes are too scrummy!

    Lemon cake, please...
    Oh, and brownies!
And I think Ducasi requested banana cake without chocolate?

Even if you do your entire list of cakes, and I do all of mine, we'll still not make the same thing..... And Greg will look like a hippopotamus by the end of Southport, as he will have to taste every single variety. If Sparkles bakes, too, I think we'll have to book him into a hospital by the end of the weekend for pumping, otherwise he might explode...

PS - I still think Victoria sponge is boring, even with a nice jam inside it. If, however, you take a nice fluffy sponge (I prefer the fat free ones, made with part cornflower), then fill it with things like jam/strawberries/other fruit and cream, then I agree - sponge is yum!

    Re: Southport june07 - LM's book cafe

Just looked at the poll so far. Maybe I'll have to bake two cheesecakes...? I do hope whoever we are sharing chalet with (if we are sharing) don't need to put much (anything!!) in the fridge, as it'll be full of cheesecake!

Oh, and I spotted that Wes has voted, too. I hope this means you'll stop by for a piece of cheesecake (or any other cake), Wes?

And lastly - Little Yellow Fishy voting for the Really Chocolatey Chocolate Cake with Lots of Chocolate.... Darling, should you be eating that if you're dairy intolerant? I'd have to find a new recipe...... Mine's definitely got dairy in it! But then LC will possibly make another dairy free sponge (?), and I might make the same dairy free cake as I made for Kirriemuir, so you shouldn't bee too cake deprived!

    Roll on Southport!

    Re: Southport june07 - LM's book cafe

I wish to make an unofficial second vote for Banana and chocolate cake please. I have already voted for the cheesecake but I already know that I am going to put at least half a stone while attending LM and LC cake-tasting sessions that who am I to stand in the way of fate!

LC -I am looking forward to having some more gingerbread cake - that was delicious at Blaze . Did you also mention treacle scones??!!

*must go on diet, must go on diet!!*

Dairy free: sponge, lemon cake, banana cake (not much use when you're allergic to bananas as well ), chocolate brownies (made using oil instead of butter and always, always plain chocolate), gingerbread...

Any recipe which starts with 'melt the butter and * * * *' I usually substitute oil. So LYF should have lots of choice!

    Excellent!

And there was LYF thinking only the sponge was dairy free at Blaze. Or was that the case, and you're talking about making all your cakes dairy free this time?

Afraid my cheesecake will definitely not be dairy free!
Also, carrot cake must have lashings of scrummy philly topping..... Although cake itself is dairy free.

Right, I'd better take next Thursday off to just bake! Must pack on Wednesday...
