    Re sizing an image

I need to resize (picture size and esp byte size) an image for an invite I'm designing. I'm really limited in the software I have and can't get more - we're not allowed to download/install software on our work PCs so I can't use eg Picasa (which I've used before in another job). I can't even open the image in Photo Editor as it says its too big (the image is almost 8MB). If I put the image in as it is to the Publisher file (I know, I know, the printers hate it too, it seems to move round text when I 'pack for printer' but its all I have to work with) its just soooo slow.

Any suggestions? (I have Photo Studio5 if that's any use?)

use "portable gimp" - you can download it on your home pc from here. It installs on a USB drive and will run directly from there so will work on any PC that can see the USB drive - without installing anything.

if all you want to do is shrink pics - use Resize Images online

great tip, but, alas, for this task, "Original images can be up to 6Meg in size "

I think this image is 7.35MB (definitely over 6 anyway)
