    Driving Music

Spurred on by a thread in the "other" forum, what CD is in your car CD player at the moment or what was the last CD you played in your car ?

I dug out an old Elvis CD yesterday - it has 24 tracks and there were only about 3 or 4 I found boring, plus most I could sing along to. I had forgotten what a good voice he had

Mickey Mouse's girlfriend, Minnie, made her film debut, along with Mickey, in "Steamboat Willie" on November 18, 1928.
That date is recognized as her official birthday.

    Re: Driving Music

I think one of the best driving/journey CD's I have come across so far is Claude Challe - Je Nous Aime.

After a very, very long hard day I found it really chilled me out as I was driving home.

Or on a longish journey (actually when I was doing a job in Cardiff and I was up and down the M4 quite a few times), I found the whole CD was also a journey.

I think most of us 'older' boys like to drive to rock music - of course it's not terribly good for keeping a clean license and it's not big and it's not clever... BUT best track ever has to be 'The Boys Are Back In Town' by Thin Lizzy. It's riff-tastic mate!

Hmm, last CD I had in my car was Slipknot.

What I listen to depends entirely on my mood. I was angry that day

Any Kings of Leon album makes for fantastic driving music.

    Re: Driving Music

I like happy bouncy songs to drive to - especially since I am constantly on the M74

I have a 6 cd holder and the ones I have in it just now are...

Now 66 (2 discs) - lots of poo but lots of fabulous bouncy music
The ultimate 80s movies album (2 discs) - as above. Some fab songs to sing along to!
Mika - Mika - I know its sad, but I still love it (apart from the last track)
Abba - Gold - You can't beat a bit of Waterloo to keep you happy in traffic

I do agree with Rocky though - Rock music is not the most sensible to drive to, but its fabulous!!!!

    Re: Driving Music

I usually have compliations of MJ or AT music in the car as I drive - either ones I've made myself or that others have done for me. Partly as it gives a variety of music and also as I've been using short routine journeys (such as driving to work) as times to think about and try to understand musical structure.

I keep a selection and tend to put on what suits my mood - it might be 'sunny morning music' (often for the journey to work) or 'chilled late night wind down music'.

    Re: Driving Music

My car has a cassette player (I know...how sad it that?...it's a new car too) so I have started playing all my old eighties soul tapes. The quality is rubbish but the tunes are brilliant. Does anyone remember the following.

    Lilo Thomas
    Surface
    Swing Out Sister
    Freddie Jackson
    The Chimes
    Fat Back Band
    Bobby Thurston
    Shalamar
    Roy Ayers
    Kool & the Gang
    Earth Wind and Fire

    Such fond memories.

Rock music is definitely great to drive to ... Bon Jovi, Guns 'n' Roses etc, but I also love the 50s and 60s rock & roll/pop tunes and a good dollop of the 80s - bit more poppy/new romanticky than DT's 80s though - Duran/Spandau/Wham/Culture Club etc.

Better stock up on cassettes while they're still selling them, then.
