I don't know how many children are going to Bliss but I reckon it won't be very many. There certainly won't be any need for a baby sitta rota to be advertised on the Bliss web pages! What an absurd idea! Fletch's post about volunteers was tongue in cheek and aimed at those who know her. Fletch certainly wouldn't leave her children with anyone she didn't know. You can rest assured that all parents are aware of the rules and all children under 11 will be out of the dance rooms at the time stated and I'm sure the parents will ensure they will be very well looked after.

Those of us who take our children to these events take full responsibility for them. It is our business so why not leave us to get on with it.
    Thanks for this TB

I suspect its ulterior motives, and game playing.

We will hang on in there, as we always do.

I agree with Stewart38 - Franco has been give a lot of IMO unfounded bad press - people forget he was the person who started weekenders for Modern Jivers, in fact this November is their 10 anniversary and that was after a few Bognor weekenders !

Mickey Mouse's girlfriend, Minnie, made her film debut, along with Mickey, in "Steamboat Willie" on November 18, 1928.
That date is recognized as her official birthday.

I don't think anyone forgets that Franco was the 1st.

What people do remember are that new weekender organisers have improved the product and Franco appears to be unwilling or incapable of raising his game.

I have attended loads of Francos events and kept paying Franco my money and the money of the guests we organised in the minimum 2 chalets... we once filled 5 chalets for him. I have given constructive feedback but nothing had really improved and I for one will not be attending any more Jive Time weekenders unless I hear about a dramatic improvement.

I would love Franco to provide a high quality product to compete with Ceroc and Jive Addiction because competition and variety is great. But on recent performance a lot of improve is required IMHO.

This is the bias I mean

For the record he did the first 24 dancing and you can book in on the Thursday

Doesnt charge you to park on site as well

Doesnt do stupid promotional price differentials and got some of the best dancers and schedules on offer

    See you all at Bliss

I could reel of a list of things that I have found unsatisfactory but I feel I have said enough.

If Franco can raise his game all power to his elbow and the punters will flock to his events.

I will take a lot of convincing.

    Maybe another thread ?

Sure id agree there are many points (e.g I wouldnt go back to Bognor etc)

The 2hrs check in (which i believe hasnt happened again etc) at Camber

However to pretend Franco hasnt responded at all to the competition is unfounded.

If Franco didnt put enough air conditioning (ie fans) at his venue he would be hounded, havent seen that happen re Southport where a few extra fans would make all the difference but again they were not there

BTW as Stewart38 has said, Franco has made some changes, not necessarily what UP wants at the moment, but he was the first for 24hour dancing, and now allows dancers to arrive on Thursday evening with no extra charge and.......you may not have realised it, at Camber he has water dispensers plumbed into the mains, so you are never without fresh water.

Only Franco knows what will happen next, look out for November Camber, there 'maybe' some surprises

    Note to Mods:
I also think the Franco comments should be on a separate thread, please

Is Franco selling out to ceroc then or maybe Jive Nation to get a younger funkier weekender ? One that has sand pits for kids or name tags for the elderly (over 45)

Nothing happening on the forum today cant we have a few hours of idle speculation without foundation or any factual input ?

    yes seperate thread me thinks

Has anyone got a workshop schedule for the weekend? If so, could they post it here?

I was unaware Franco bashing went on here?

Maybe I do not log on frequently enough.

As to weekenders, Franco took a huge gamble in 1997, putting his money up front and did a Bognor weekender. It was a lot of fun. In the past I had been to Lindy weekenders but this was the first MJ weekender I knew about.

I was fortunate enough to be asked to teach and I had a lot of fun (as did Kylie my demo and co-teacher).

On the positive Nigel complimented my teaching, on the negative Nigel told me a year later "wow your teaching has improved so much" - maybe I was not that good a teacher on that first weekender after all!!!
Either way it was fun. to Franco for doing it.

Obviously in any business people will see the product and then come up with a copycat version, with improvements, which has happened.

The copycat versions have been a success, and as far as I know, Franco's weekends are still financially sound.

    all round.

Actually in the interests of fairness. I ought to point out that I have also heard many people rave about the virtues of Jive Time week enders so.....
