guerrilla programming is a recent fad; e.g.

I flucuate between Software Architect down through sofware engineer and programmer to numpty. Fortunately some of them work well enough.
Very interesting Post.
The advertisers need to be able to justify their reason for sepcifying a certain type of applicant.
To specify that they need a person with "great physique" is acceptable if their product or service is for example for a Sports Club. "great physique" is an important criteria relevant for a Sports club. In this example, they would find it harder to justify a particular age group or skin colour because however they cut it applicants from the excluded groups can still posess the criteria they cook up for the advert. If they had thought it through they should have worked these criteria beforehand anyway.
In one of the adverts in the e-mail, it is possible for example that they want the models to have pale coloured skin because they have to wear "flesh toned clothes" i.e not dark or brown and that the images project on the actors (trees and the like) need to be clearly seen both on the models and the clothing. If that was the case then no discrimination. Regarding "great physique" may be no overdeveloped curves (read - Fat), who knows?
You could say that thay can make up a list of reasons to get what they really want, but the thing is that they have to determine these beforehand and make sure that they apply the same reasons to EVERY APPLICANT.
They can even publicise the reasons - eg. pale skin.
I hope they have some very good reasons for the age groups because as most people know, abilities and looks are not related to dates of birth - (within reason of course , not arbitrarily). They could get stuck on that one!
