Why are dance web sites so poor ?
Ok its an old thread but I want a rant
I want to go to Cheshunt tonight
Can I find an address or postcode anywhere on the ceroc metro site ??
It tells me about a Friday meltdown but not where ?
It has this on the site main page which I assume is not the address of the Meltdown place ???? and is 2 months out of date

Ok rep points to anyone who can give the correct post code. Need some agreement here
3 lives depend on it but you don’t get the ‘free ice lolly’ ?
Well the address Tiggerbabe gave does seem to be the same as the one at the bottom of this page on the CerocMetro website. So I think Tiggerbabe's got a good claim to that rep.Originally Posted by stewart38

Love dance, will travel
I can confirm that TiggerBabe is correct. Checked it out on GoogleMaps and it looks right, have been to Wolsey Hall many times, and will be popping along tonight. so see you there. Cannot recall but there was a load of delays due to work on the M25 near Cheshunt, so you might want to alter your route if the roadworks have not finished.Originally Posted by stewart38

The cerocmetro site isn't the best; but then, a lot of ceroc franchise sites are less than superb. Look at Ceroc Central
Ceroc London's is OK, but the colour scheme's a bit painful.
Ceroc Chilterns is OK now, but it used to be pretty awful too.
And frankly, ceroc.com is getting ridiculous - 2 clicks to get to anything resembling a front page, what on earth is all that about? And what's the difference between a local and national event? I've never been able to work that out. Boy, I could go on for hours.
I know, how about nominations for good Ceroc sites?
Ceroc Scotland gets my nominationOriginally Posted by DavidJames
End the nominations now and hold the vote
Congratulations CEROC SCOTLAND
I'm sure that there's always room for improvement, e.g. the map for the Golden Lion Hotel seems a little awry. Ditto the Lovat Hotel.Originally Posted by under par

Why is there such a confusion of Utopia sites...?
There is http://www.utopiadance.co.uk which in turn links to the Evesham site
http://www.cerocgroove.co.uk/utopia.tpl - although this is a little out of date ("Our next Utopia is Friday 30th March 2007"), and I couldn't find a link back from the Evesham site to the other one.
Recently there's also been added http://www.dance-utopia.com which links to both of the other two, but neither of them link back to it. It also appears to have a "Dance Calendar" but this doesn't include many of the dates from the other two sites.
(There's also http://www.utopiadance.com which appears to be some cheerleaders in America. )
Love dance, will travel

Age is a question of mind over matter, if you don't mind, it doesn't matter
Leroy (Satchel) Paige (1906-1982)
Mickey Mouse's girlfriend, Minnie, made her film debut, along with Mickey, in "Steamboat Willie" on November 18, 1928.
That date is recognized as her official birthday.
Bit of a mess isn't it?
It's all about different franchisees. The 'cerocgroove.co.uk' site belongs to Ceroc Worcester, the 'dance-utopia.com' site belongs to Ceroc Central and the 'utopiadance.co.uk' site belongs to Val, Dave and I.
Each franchisee is running their own operation with their own websites and their own financial interests. The Utopia brand and concept is pretty much available now for any franchisee nationwide to use if they so wish.
Because of this autonomy it is very unlikely that there will ever be a central Utopia website listing all events across the country. So on that assumption I can assure you it'll get a lot worse in the future.
I can also assure you that the Twickenham event is and always will be the best....
Check the range of T-shirt slogans here - 'Whatever It Takes' would be a good UK Utopia - Twickenham Franchise motto. That or 'You gotta want it'
Be ready to click away if anyone walks into the office whilst you're looking though. Browsing sites full of school-age cheerleaders can be a tough one to explain
Suddenly I realise how cool my job is. Projects the charity I work for has been or is involved with include a school age cheerleading project, an advice service for male and transgender sex workers (now *that's* a startling website ), and an organisation that delivers sex education/advice through outrageous events.
Oh, er, dance websites. Yeah.
As Ceroc is a franchise organisation, it does seem bizarre to me that there isn't a 'one-stop' accurate place to collect information. As Utopia is part of the Ceroc empire, it seems odd that the events shouldn't be listed on the main Ceroc website
Lynda's list ( ) is frequently the most up-to-date for events in the south. I've also found uk-jive quite useful (and think that they do expect 'advertisers' to update reasonably regularly or risk having their listings pulled).
Doesn't Ceroc have some kind of process for collecting information from it's own franchisees so that it can ensure its own information is up-to-date? If not, why not? - it appears to be able to control so much else
Spooky that this thread should be resurrected at the moment ...
Just been on the Ceroc Fusion website looking up the postcode for Gentabout to go dancing while he's in Norwich tonight. OK, it may not be impossible to find the postcode, but it wasn't easy, and the overall layout was !
