Well done, Divi on completing the marathon! You're an inspiration and you've made me re-think my attitude to my training. I've given up after running two 10k's and not doing terribly well in them, but you've made me think it's only me who's holding me back! Well done and thanks! Rep on it's way to you!

Re: Divi Runs the London Marathon

After having such a positive experience last year, I'm doing it all again tomorow! This year, training has not gone quite so well (I've been fiendishly busy at work since January) but I'm still aiming to improve my time from last year. The weather forecast is looking much kinder for tomorrow - I am hugely relieved it will not be as hot as last year.

As last year, I am raising money for the Stroke Association which, amongst its other work, funds research into prevention, treatment and better methods of rehabilitation, and helps stroke patients and their families directly through its community services. I chose to run for Stroke because this year marks the tenth anniversary of my Gran's death from stroke. Please sponsor me, if you would like to - my page is here.

If anyone is going to watch the marathon tomorrow, please keep an eye out for me and say hello as I go by!

I couldn't understand how I'd missed this thread when it has so many posts and I've been on so much recently, until I realised it's a year old thread, lol. And now you're doing it all again?!

As someone else who only ever runs for the bus or to catch a runaway kid, I can't imagine what it takes to run a marathon... I'm lucky if I can manage 2 minutes running at the gym!

Anyway, good on you and best of luck for tomorrow - be sure to let us know how you get on!

    Thanks, Shiny Wee Star!

I got on OK yesterday - my lack of training really showed in the second half and I missed beating last year's time, but I had a great day despite the rain. It is such a great event to be part of - I suspect my time could have been faster if I had taken fewer sweets from spectators!

I finished in 5:34:51 and was pleased with that - plenty of room for improvement next time!

I'm a bit stiff today, but happily that seems to be the worst of it.

Well done Claire, that is a fantastic time, if I was running it I'd still be there! Hopefully Toby is on hand to give you a good rub down to ease those muscles though

Looking forward to seeing you soon,
    Bex
