With a little planning, it's easy to make arrangements so that you don't have to drive home. These days, there's a plethora of cheap hotels, and there are generally people who'll put you up.

I totaly agree with this post

What about night shift workers and insomniacs going to 'regular' events? You can't regulate for every possible eventuality, there has to come a point where people are responsible for themselves. The way I see it is, if you put the keys in the ignition of your car, you are soley responsible for not being over tired, drugged, drunk or in any other way unfit to drive.

Ashtons itself is unusual in being right next to both 24 hour rail and bus services (to limited destinations including central London), but most people don't live in those locations.

The circle line between London termini starts running about 5 am and the majority of first trains / tube start leaving central London termini ~ 5:30 am.

So at 4am that allows an hour after the dance to get to Central London, and half an hour to get to the right central London station.

    * 4am is perfect for the Brighton direction, as the first train from Cricklewood to Brighton leaves just a few minutes after.
Wow! Good post frodo. You had us all confused and now you've enlightened us. I've lived in London for 23 years (nearly my whole life) and I had no idea that the tubes and trains started that early on a Saturday. Your post is helpful for me, as I might be able to get the first Brighton train (if it stops at West Brompton, near to where I live in Fulham).

On Saturday mornings, there are trains to Brighton from Cricklewood leaving at 02:38 (arriving 05:14) and 04:08 (arriving 06:07) and every 30 minutes thereafter.

For the "All Nighter" could be interesting, at least there is only a 5 minute wait for the bus for this connection, and I could get a local bus home (for the normal night train there is an hour wait between the train and the night bus)

    Depart: 04:38 Cricklewood (CRI)
    Arrive: 06:00 Three Bridges (TBD)
    Travel By: Train
Train Company: First Capital Connect to Three Bridges (TBD)
    Cycle Policy

    Duration: 1:22

    Depart: 06:05 Three Bridges (TBD)
    Arrive: 06:50 Brighton (BTN)
    Travel By: Bus
Train Company: Southern to Brighton (BTN)
Thank you for this info - didn't even know about it - but there again, I am a bit of a public transport snob

However, at that time of night/morning I wouldn't travel alone.

    Now then Frodo,

It's all very well giving them Brighton folk the timetables, but what about us in the South West.........specifically, Stroud?

I'll rep you if you can come up with a viable option.......
