I have no idea what happened in your crash but quite often if you have a heavy frontal impact where the front wheels hit something with a lot of force, wrist injuries are common - people's natural and unconcious reaction in that scenario quite often is to brace their arms whilst holding the wheel. When the steering wheel is wrenched by the impact of the front wheels this often leads to wrist injuries, particularly if you hold the wheel with your thumbs round the rim rather than flat. The thing to do is to let go of the wheel completely if you know you are going to hit something but it goes against your natural instinct! I know of at least 2 people that have broken their wrists/arms (one having to have the whole thing pinned back together) because they held onto the wheel during a heavy frontal impact (both in Caterhams which I think are more vulnerable to that)

Trouble.. So sorry to hear about your accident, but so glad to hear you're ok.

The forum wouldn't be the same without you (it would be a lot saner for one thing ) Seriously, glad to hear you got off with just a few bumps and aches.

In the end a car is just a lump of metal (albeit an expensive one) and can be replaced , you on the otherhand can't be and are unique.. (thank heavens )

Re: Trouble has trashed her car

For those not in the know, what is this "very expensive car" ?

But please accept my condolenscences at this time, losing a car is an upsetting thing. I know most people say "its only a car", but actually cars are very unique in their characteristics. Yes it can be replaced with one that looks similar, but it won't be exact.
I know its sad, but I'm a car buff and love my cars (even though they are old)

Glad to hear you weren't hurt and you came out fine.

Yeah, I have a pride and joy car as well which is in for gearbox recon as it lost its 5th gear recently. Thus my comment about sharing the pain of damaging ones prided car.

Hey Trouble - best thing I did after writing off my cousins car - well, it wasn't me really, I got rammed in the side by a drunk pregnant woman who was speeding - was get in a car and drive again. I drove like my mother (my Dad was a speedy driver!) for about 6 weeks but it didn't take too long to get my confidence back.

    Hope your feeling okay now!

Re: Trouble has trashed her car

So shall we start up the "who's been in a car accident and walked away unscathed club"?!

Glad you're OK Trouble. I can empathise with the stiff back - mine is fine now if I'm upright or horizontal, but transitioning is bl00dy painful. At least the bruising round my neck has gone down now.

Hope you make a full and swift recovery. (and the car too)
