    ebuyer and other online shops...

I've noticed we have a few fans of ebuyer on the forum...

Would you continue to recommend them after reading this story, and the other "related" stories linked from it?

Any other online suppliers you'd recommend?

I've used ebuyer for the last 5 years and never once had a problem with them. If anything I have found them to be really helpfull.

The only time I had trouble is when a next day shipment didn't arrive. Was down to the curriors but ebuyer still credited the comp I was working for the shippment fees and gave us 10% off our next order with them.

The nicking screen thing was prob down to one employee rather than the company itself.

old news that. But you're right ;its underhand, but would not stop me using them. Like woodface Ive used them for years and the couple of problems I have had have been sorted quickly and professionally, so I wouldnt worry about a few dodgy entires by a member of staff. I would doubt its company policy.

Other recommends would be : www.scan.co.uk (especially "today only") www.aria.co.uk (but expensive and not obvious postage costs) www.dabs.co.uk and also for IT kit, www.amazon.co.uk - sometimes they are the cheapest.

    For games : www.gameplay.com and sometimes www.play.com

They've now been caught doing it twice in the space of a few months...

Didn't they fire the "one employee" last time?

not sure. they should certainly sort it out though. If they do it again they should be sued, fined or punished in same way. Dubious business practices won't stop me using them though (similar to the Ceroc exclusive employee situtation in fact )

It's not just me that gets caught by that, then.

Took me ages to work out that it actually edits the text of your message when you hit Preview or Submit. I think I may have worked out how to switch it off now, though.

They have 100's employees. Whats more the same emplyee could have done it. Some of these products are on sale for months. With a comp like ebuyer where they have 100's of products, it would take awhile to find.

For Flash Memory ,batteries and occasional camera bits and bobs You can't beat 7 Day Shop

They used to be customs friendly.. That is you'd order a £200 lens and they would ship it from the channel islands marked as £17.99 to get under the £18 threshold for customs in the UK. Alas they've been picked up on this and had their wrists smacked for doing it. However, items under £18 are marked as being Tax free and if you order a lot they will ship it (if they can) in multiple packages where the total is < £18.

I've used them a lot and never had any problems.
