I don't know. Hum it, and I'll see if I recognise the tune...

No but I thought this article was interesting, Germany 1920s and inflation and how it was tackled

record inflation rate germany 1930s - Google Search

    --------------------------------
The new currency was in great demand and circulated at its declared gold value. Within weeks the rate of inflation, which had been raging at an annual rate of 300,000 percent, dropped to virtually zero. And this was ccomplished at a cost of only 10 percent lost potential output

Sorry to bounce the thread but just found out its now

    2,200,000 % !!!

So if your queuing for a stamp (lets say one hour of queuing) its likely to be 10 times more expensive when you get to the front of the queue compared to the price of that stamp when you started out at the end of the queue.

Solution I guess is to always buy your stamp when your in the end of the queue ??

I thought the forum had sorted this mess out ?

ps Buy your Southport ticket now cost £109 next February likely to be £145,000

Blimey, I was young and naive then.

    From here:

Zimbabwe has the world's highest annual rate of inflation - 231,000,000%

My Sis and her Family visiting from there at the moment and re inflation they can not use cash as there isn't enough in circulation, so they pay by Cheque (need a calcultaor to work out the zero's alone) and if not by cheque Then the good old US$$. or good old barter, but hey the west will just carry on and let Zimbabweans suffer (the cholera out break at the moment) and because there is no oil or military importance to the country. we will all just sit and comment and do nothing about it.

Unfortunately, "the West" literally can't do anything about it - economic sanctions won't work, diplomacy is ineffective and military intervention is impossible.

The only solution is for the South African government to grow a spine and tell Mugabe that his time's up - and back it up with "Or else". Until that happens, Zimbabwe will suffer. And yes, the only thing we can do in the UK is sit and watch.

Unilateral military intervention - rather than shooting a few missiles / dropping a few bombs - by the Western nations is literally impossible.

In fact, as long as South Africa sits around twiddling its thumbs, pretending there's no problem, and abrogating all moral authority, there's almost nothing anyone can do. I'd hoped that the removal of Mbeki would have kick-started things. Apparently not.

Ironic that apartheid South Africa supported apartheid Rhodesia, despite the condemnation of most of the world. And now post-revolutionary South Africa supports post-revolutionary Zimbabwe in similar circumstances.

It'd almost be funny, if babies weren't starving to death.
