Spurgeon's, eh? When I was in college (London Bible College, or London School of Theology as it's now known) I played in the rugby team, and Spurgeon's were our big rivals. I seem to remember that the last time I played against them (way back in 1996) we beat them convincingly.

Do you really see it from that perspective? To me, being passionate about something doesn't equate to treating it like a religion.

I'm a Christian, and I'm passionate about Jesus. That is, and I believe should be, central. However, I am also passionate about dancing, enough to spend money and time on it. I'm a passionate Welsh nationalist and sometime Welsh language activist as well, and I've spent plenty of money and time in that cause too. I'm passionate about shooting and hunting and... well, you get the picture. However out of all these, though they are all important to me, only one is of central importance.

What I'm trying to say is that people can be passionate about many things, for varying amounts of time and to varying degrees. That in itself does not make these passions of religious significance. It's all about what is central in people's lives. As this is a dance forum, it is to be expected that dance takes primary importance here. It is, after all, a passion we all share to some extent. In this context it is right and proper for dance to take centre stage, and that shouldn't be taken to mean that people treat it like a religion. After all, you (or I) don't know what other things the other forumites are passionate about, or which of those things are actually of central importance to them.

Maybe, but his aim is improving all the time.

    Maybe ever-so-slightly...

As I'm not a rugby man, I couldn't begin to comment.
