Thing is...even if she does find a man, but is prone to moaning about how rubbish they all are, she will still be moaning when she has found one.

Why do you think she is still single? She clearly thinks she will find a perfect man as some point in her life...and that, my friend, would be like trying to find rocking horse sh1te.

I couldn't begin to speculate. Are you saying that any single woman in her 30's is clearly a Complete Weirdo?

She does? Where'd you get that from?

The phrase "leap to conclusions" seems for some reason to be in my mind...

Yes, that's exactly what I am saying...err...hang on a minute..

Actually, I think Frank Skinner said something along those lines a few years ago. Didn't stop a load of thirty something women throwing themselves at him though. I wonder what they found attractive in Frank, the millionaire?

May be cause she finds herself better alone than with one of those "rubbish" (quote) men you're talking about?

Note that you're the only one on that thread talking about a 'perfect man'...

The lady is 'just' looking for a husband.

Oh..is that right? You think she is happy on her own?

So you think that ad was tongue in cheek and it's all a big joke?

Maybe she see's this as a numbers game...she doesn't mind trawling through all the 'rubbish' if it increases her chances of finding someone half decent.

If that is the case, and she wants all the agro...good luck to her. Lets hope she doesn't stumble across and rapists, stalkers or freaks along the way.

Oops sorry, Barry, I wasn't meaning to imply.....

Read between the lines - she said she missed being in a relationship. This is code for "dying for a shag". Among other things, of course.

Good on her, IMO. My gut reaction to her video clip was that she was a nice, likeable, normal woman with plenty to offer. If speed/computer/small ad dating is considered perfectly OK these days, I don't know why anyone's making a fuss about her approach which I thought was witty, enterprising and direct.

If her friends laugh at her, then they ain't friends. If you did that and your friends laughed at you wouldn't you ditch them? If a friend of yours did it would you laugh at them? ***.

The point is...I wouldn't (and I don't know any sane person that would actually) do it in the first place.

I don't know if you are single or not, jivecat, but can I ask you...would you do it? I'd laugh at you if you did, but we are not friends so it doesn't matter.

Nope, but I think she's shown wit, originality, honesty, creativity and intelligence. I bet she'll get a lot of offers.

    Errr, OK.

That;'s opposed to the Secret Foolproof Method Of Finding A Good Partner, which doesn't involve lots of work then?

Yeah, coz you only ever meet nutters online - people you meet in pubs (for example) are obviously a much better bet...

Well at some point you have to decide whether you want to be/stay in a non-satisfying relationship or be alone. My take is that since she's single, she seems to have opted for the latter.
Clearly she states that she would be happier with a husband, but she probably is happier alone now than with a random man which she would keep just for fear of being alone, or worse, lack of (financial or emotional) independance. (you're following?)

Being a HR professional, she surely has thought of some fairly reliable selection process to avoid those

The internet. Where men are men and so are half the women.

Most nutters i've ever had the miss fortune of dating have come from dancing !!!!!

BTW I think she's got a sense of humor for doing that. Bet she bangs like a barn door in a storm too.

Shut up DJ. My point was there would be a much higher volume of men with the ad, where in a pub, you are not going to have hundreds of men, all at once, seeking your attention.

Unless you are me, of course.

Erm, well I've posted someone else's details for them in a similar ad once or twice. We all had a good laugh at their expense. Fortunately we knew they could take a joke in advance (although the ads might have been worse if they couldn't ).

How far will people travel for the perfect partner? hmm, 101 miles
