While we're on the Proclaimers - one for all the romantics - and particularly the non-romantics:

    When you're in love,
You don't know much about it
    Not in your mind
    Romantic love
Rots the brain, no doubt about it
You're out of your mind, you're out of your mind

Seeing things like your heart with wings
Then you hear violin strings playing
Feel all the things that you feel you should
You would lie, you would kill, you would die
At least that's what you're saying
The worst thing is that you really would

    When you're in love.. etc

Six thousand million people in the world
And you say there's just one
The only one and you must be together
And if they love you the pain is so sweet,
It just gets better and better,
    And if they don't
You want them more than ever

    When you're in love,
You don't know much about it
    Not in your mind
    Romantic love
Rots the brain, no doubt about it
You're out of your mind, you're out of your mind

    Good ol' Charlie 'n' Craig!

Blame Twirly. She used that '500 miles' phrase - how can we not get to the Proclaimers after that?

    OI !! I resemble that statement !!

I am not a love sick puppy.. a romance nauseous wolfcub perhaps.

I don't know, I don't post for weeks and I get told to come pack, I come back and I get picked on again. Perhaps I should just go and hide under the stairs once more.

you two are just as bad in your own twisted way

As for the "I would walk 500 hundred miles" thing.. I probably wouldn't my shin splints wouldn't let me.

What was the Pretender's one called? The Christmassy one?

Well - you could change it a bit. 'I would hobble 500 miles' doesn't scan very well, and 'I would crawl 500 miles' isn't very romantic. How about 'I would drive 500 miles'?

'And I would drive 500 miles
And I would drive 500 more
Just to be that man who fell asleep at the wheel
And crashed into your front garden,
    Squashing your favourite daffodils'

Hmmm. Maybe some tweaking is needed.
And, of course - it would have to be a suitably romantic car.

    I'll get my coat.

Alternatively you could amend Edwin Starr

    It's 402.8 miles to London*
My shins are hurting mighty bad...

(I'll let someone cleverer than me who actually knows the rest of the words fill in the rest)

Chorus: So I got to keep on dancin'
I got to dance on, oh-oh-oh

    etc.

    * according to theaa.com routeplanner. No, it doesn't scan. Yes, I'm a pedant.

Yes.. but given the way I navigate.. it's probably nearer 6000 by the time I take the scenic route

"Aaah! So I should have turned right at Edinburgh.Ok I see where I went wrong. Thanks for all your help and directions.. . nice igloo by the way!"
