    Jive nation - new night...

I got an email saying that they're starting up a new night this Weds, in the same venue as Negracha tango (on Fridays).

Apparently it's got a Cool Name ("wild" - - Cool Names seem to be De Rigeur nowadays, I think everyone's read the same marketing book or something)

But, it's got a Blues Room, which I assume is the basement room - and which I can say from experience is a fantastic room for slow bluesy dancing, so that's a good choice.

Having said that, the email also says
This party is going to ROCK!
Errr.... I'm not sure if I want to ROCK, or even to rock...

Also, has anyone been to thr Jive Nation stuff at the Hippodrome recently? How's it doing?

Why not. Try it, you might like it. Variety is the spice of life and all that.

Besides, it makes a real nice change to be able to dance to Hard Fi, Sterophonics or Artic Monkeys. Esp as most of us who like that type of music have to put up with the same old cack being played every event.

Hey, if you have to ask...

It's in Central London, near Holborn station - hold up...
Kensington College of Business, 4 Wild Court, Holborn WC2B 4AU

Ah, I get it now - "Wild", Wild Court. Duh...

Blimey, it's a business college, I never knew that.

Anyway, it's (amazingly) fairly easy to park round there, but don't under any circumstances drive down Wild Court itself, because there's zero parking there and it's a complete pig to try and turn around in. So I've heard.

Actually, looking at the JN site, I reckon it's pretty much the best MJ website I've seen so far.

OK, admittedly the bar is pretty low on that one, and there's a few weird bits like the colour scheme, but all-in-all it looks pretty professional - better, IMO, than the Ceroc site, and waaaay better than franchisee sites.

Yeah, neither did any of the ten people I asked in the area the first time I tried to find it

That's like 5 minutes away from work.

Unfortunately I have a work event in Docklands tonight - but will look forward to feedback from those who are going

My partner has bailed so I wont be performing

Can't really have feedback on Saturdays event, as it hasn't happened yet! (Although i'm sure that won't stop some people)
But the new night tonight was a huge success from what i've just heard. Approximately 100 people there with 2 great cabarets. Well done Simon.

Yes, I went. It was a fantastic opening night. Really good turn-out, almost too busy!

Cabarets were good to watch, as most of us squeezed onto the steps up to the stage meaning we had the proper front-on view

Then, Seamus led the Big Steal (where he calls out for guys to steal a new partner every so often during a track) which is always good fun .

This was followed by a quick game which can only be describe as a kind of dancing version of musical chairs...

Having the Blues Room downstairs was a real treat for a weekday dance session - there was more space there and the floor was very spinny.

Only down sides was that it got quite warm at times, but you could sit/stand by open windows/doors to cool off. Also, upstairs in the main room was fairly crowded at times, but then you could always chill out in the blues room instead!

All in all, I think it was a very successful opening night - well done to Simon, Seamus and Susie!
