DVD home movie editing and burning...

    Calling all teckies and geeks

OK, here's what I want... a fast 'external' DVD burner, including a nice software package which is compatible with Vista, as well as XP

As far as I can see, at the moment, a bundle with the correct software doesn't exist

I went to PC World yesterday and they said, they'll 'probably' be a package out within the next month or so???

I had read that NERO had free downloadable patches for Vista, so I bought an LG burner that included NERO software but the idiotic thing is, you need to load the software it comes with first, (which my Vista repeatedly rejected), before you can add the patch.. so, I had to take it back

    Any idea's?

(yes I know, I should have got an Apple but I didn't get a choice... OK )

    Thanks for that...

So, do you know of a DVD burner 'bundle' that includes nero 6?

To buy them seperately works out as a lot more money

I don't mind if they don't know the answer or if the answer is 'no', but I wish they would listen to the question before they let garbage spill out of their mouths!

you sound as if you are talkng from experience what happened.

Last time I asked for information in PCWorld which was "Do you have any wireless speakers" the assistant sneered "there's no such thing" as if i was trying to wind him up

Lory: what was the version of Nero you got from PCworld then ?

I'd loaded it onto my XP laptop and i've copied the info here...so it was Nero Express 6.. which was definitely, instantly rejected by the Vista (I don't know if 'express' means its a lower grade?)

    System Requirements
Your system should come with a pre-installed operating system or you may choose to upgrade your operating system to the latest. Below you will find a list of those that Nero Express 6 support. Please check to make sure that you have one of the following operating systems:

    Operating System

    Windows 98/SE
    Windows ME
Windows 2000 (service pack 4 or higher)
    Windows XP
    Windows Server 2003
