The best fancy dress I ever went to was themed as Carry On Movies.
It was great and there is so much scope for different costumes.
I went as Babs Windsor in carry on Doctor..as a saucy nurse.
I might even have the pics somewhere
Regional (e.g. Eastern / Oriental)
Occupational (e.g. fireman, pirates vs. ninjas)
Time period (e.g. 1940s, Space Age)
Fictional characters (e.g. cartoons, superheroes)
Traditional (back to school, vicars and tarts etc.)
Letters (e.g. The letter “Y”)
Circus
Weather (ski suits / bikinis / etc.)
Transport (e.g. Tube stations)
007
Something easy.
Circus theme clothing or similar "specialist" theme is too much like hard work. I can look silly in my normal clothes, so won't bother with fancy dress if I have to spend any more than about 20 quid and/or half an hour organising it.
I like letter themes, 'cos people can go as far as they want - or not . I would suggest S (for Southport) and not just so I can cheat and go to the party as 'me', honest. Hmmm, I can just see Mr & Mrs UP getting ambitious with the polystyrene and blue and yellow paint and arriving as Southport Pontins ...

Fletch to put you out of your misery the letter "y" or any letter could be a theme if everyone has to dress up as something starting with the letter...
there was a theme at another weekender of letter "B" ! there were ballerinas, belly dancers, bees, batman, bluebells etc etc etc.... imaginations run riot...
Even a Bare man with Blue Balloons doing a balloon dance!!!!
--ooOoo--
Age is a question of mind over matter, if you don't mind, it doesn't matter
Leroy (Satchel) Paige (1906-1982)
Mickey Mouse's girlfriend, Minnie, made her film debut, along with Mickey, in "Steamboat Willie" on November 18, 1928.
That date is recognized as her official birthday.
Hmm Eastern promise, arabian nights,
Knights in tights
Just knights would do!
Where's the 'White' option?
Are Pirates and Ninjas really Occupations? Wish i'd known that when I took my options at school. I would of taken Swashbuckling instead of Biology.
