Avert my eyes from this shameful dirty dancing
Be Afraid
. . . . . . . . . . . .Be Very Afraid!
Going to be in Brighton tonight now.
Anyone else going?
You have me intrigued now..... Ceroc meets Scottish Country Dancing.....
now how does that work? Cerocspins with pas-de-basque? Ceroc to reel/jig/strathspey tempo? Ceroc in a 4-couple-longwise set? Ceroc fused with Highland? Firstmove with high-cuts? The mind boggles!
Drat. Am going to be several hundred miles too far north this weekend to find out.
Awwww hasn't Franck organised a live video feed like an outside broadcast.
The CSBC - Ceroc Scotland Broadcasting Company.
Live feeds from all the major events and venues you couldn't get to. . . . Turn the Volume up and the lights down and you could have your own impromtue little jive night in your living room.
By the magic of the internet you could even feed your own Web Cam back to the main event.
It could work for the injured and infirm too when we just can't get out of the house and have started going stir crazy. . . . .
Huh Franck?
Right where's that copyright application form
Ok, here's a concept. Haven't had a chance to gather any "victims" to try it out on, so don't know if it would work.
Dashing white sergeant a la ceroc (how do I do a grav accent on this thing to go over the "a"?) Reel, 32 bars x N) Formation: lines of 3 facing lines of 3 around the room
Bars 1-8 - Circle round and back
9-12 Man in the middle of the line does a ceroc move with the lady on his right
13-16 Man in the middle of the line does a ceroc move with the lady on his left
(alternatively for bars 9-16, just do some form of double-trouble move taking up 8 bars of music)
17-24 - Either reel of 3 OR man spins lady on his right (2 bars), and lady on his left (2 bars), then spins lady on right (2 bars) then lady on left (2 bars)
25-28 - advance and retire
29-32 - making arches, progress as for DWS.
If anyone going to GUU tonight wants to try this as an experiment to see if it can be made to work, I'll bring along the relevant CD. (note: minimum of 5 victims required)
Equally if anyone can think of improvements, I'm happy to hear them.
DJ; will we see you at hammersmith tonite?
We'll see you later then!
Still here...
Sorry, I missed!
In addition to Utopia and Hammersmith (reviews elsewhere) my weekend involved my first ever busk (for Ceroc Greenwich at Bow) and yesterday's workshops with Franck and Sheena which gave me much food for thought. It was an eye opener to see the distinction between Lead and Connection when so often the two are taken to be the same thing. It also really hammered home the responsibilites of both parties in forming and keeping connection - neither leader nor follower can do it alone 9though there are ways to 'cheat' the connection). The floor in the school hall was pretty merciless though and my knees and feet ached big-time by the end of the day
I attended the workshop yesterday and was surprised at how much there is to think about regarding lead and connection. The workshop didn't really give much time to actully do any dancing but I was still so shattered at the end of the day, just the amount of concentration that it took (and having to listen to Franck talking all day ). I was also very aware of the range of leaders who attended the class - ranging from those who couldn't seem to grasp the concept of connection let alone try and lead it right through to ChrisA - The king of lead and connection .
Overall, I am glad that I went to this workshop as I learnt a lot about how I am connecting with a partner and how to maintain that.
The only thing was that the weather was so good, it seemed a shame to spend all day in a school hall.
Berko last night was nice as always, but I didn't get so much of a buzz from it, despite the Return Of Marc and other good things. Maybe it was the M25 being broken, maybe it was me...
Highlights were a couple of lovely tangos with Icey, who bravely shut her eyes during the process; I'm assuming this was to enhance the experience rather than to avoid looking at me
Also, a lovely dance with the Birthday Girl Lucy Locket, and with the elusive Missy D
Is there a difference between luvvie comments and overly lovely comments? Eh, DJ?
