One of the big new features of Vista is voice recognition.
Here's some demos of it "working"...

Probably just as well it doesn't recognise voices too accurately.
Love dance, will travel
My husband got a new laptop yesterday (Toshiba Tecra M5 with fingerprint recognition ) and it has Vista ultimate installed.
I've just had a play with it and the voice recognition does actually work but in reality, I think its just a bit of fun and unless your typing a massive document, I can't see its any quicker, or has any major advantages over using the keypad... you have to learn certain amount of vocab too, which is a bit of a pain.
In time, it might prove to be good for my son, who's dyslexic but at the moment, its only recognising 'my' voice. everytime he speaks to it, it asks "What was that?
As for the general look of it, my first impression is, it seems clean and streamline and at the moment (as there's nothing much else loaded on it) its unsurprisingly fast!

Thanks ducasi.. that made me laugh.
reminds me of the time I installed .. i forget.. Dragon dictate or was it naturally speaking? Anyway. I went though the whole training process. repeating the training sentences until I got a nearly 100% accuracy rate.
then I set to witting a letter.
"Dear Mum and Dad" .... "Dear Monster dad"
ok delete that
"Dear Mum and Dad" ... "Dear Monster dad"
hmm.. delete
"Dear" .... "Dear"
"Mum" ... "Mum"
"and dad" ... "handbag"
delete..
"And" .. "Hand"
In the end I gave up.. after about half an hour and every thing from my Dear monster dad, My Demon Handbag and the rather disturbingly perverted Dear Mum Hand Gag I gave up.
Nice to see that it's still pretty much situation normal.. The department of SNAFU strikes again
Just for the sake of fairness to voice recognition software, Julia (Saxylady) uses Dragon Naturally speaking 9 to perform just about everything she needs to as a secretary (she has RSI) she doesn't swear at it too often (although there appears to be an issue with it crashing IE 7 .............)
