I suppose you could do hip hop or something, but surely not MJ....convince me otherwise! But the music is just made for WCS, certainly not made for MJ

To be fair - straight Ceroc as I was originally taught it... no - I'd find that a bit dull. Connected style MJ as I like to do it, yes - it's an amazing song for that, and I can certainly think of some MJ dancers who'd more than do justice to it. I'd prefer to characterise it as a song for connection dances, rather than a song for WCS.

I don't quite understand. How does connected style MJ as you define it differ from straight Ceroc? In what way is WCS not a connection dance? Have you seen J&T or any of the other top WCS couples dance a choreographed routine?

    1) That one might take all day.
    2) I expressed that badly. WCS is a pure connection dance.
    3) Many, many times (on video, not live), and I am in awe of them.

    1) I'm interested, could you try sometime?
    2) OK
    3) Likewise, (video and live) so as we agree on that I don't want to argue the merits of how to interpret Christine Aguilera any more

Hmm, I think you read that wrong - I read it as "it is a song for ANY connection dance, rather than specifically WCS".

OK, you post a link to a video showcasing the best that connected MJ can offer in interpreting music like this, I'll post a link to a J&T video clip, and anyone can compare and contrast.....

Alas - you got me there. I don't know of any such - I'll post one if I find one. I'm going to be stubborn and stand by my opinion though

Yeah, but that doesn't mean that MJ can't be done well, just that the top WCS dancers are better than the top MJ dancers.

Which is hardly a major surprise.

I reckon one could do a good Milonga to "Ain't no other man"...

    That may be significant.....
Meantime I look forward to seeing your thoughts on connected MJ and how it differs from standard MJ (maybe I've been practising it without knowing..).

To be fair, the comparison was "Ceroc" vs. "Connected MJ".

Ceroc doesn't teach connection, generally speaking.

How would the top MJ dancers look if made to dance WCS? More importantly, how would the top WCS dancers look if made to dance MJ?

    Tango Argentino to that? Hmm......

Unfortunately the best MJ dancers rarely appear on video that is available to download off the 'net.

I'm sure the likes of Adam & Tas would be able to put an incredible routine together based on either of these songs.

I agree, they would be very good indeed.

Pretty rubbish I imagine - specialisation is part of the price you pay for being the best at any discipline. Ask Anton Du Beke...
