Smile What showcase / cabaret would you like to see?

I was thinking the other day whilst listening to 'Buttons' by the Pussycat Dolls how good it would be to see someone do a showcase to that track. Someone who could do it justice that is. As much as I love the track and enjoy dancing to it, I get frustrated knowing that there is so much more that could be done with it that is beyond my current abiity. 'Ain't No Other Man' by Christina Aguilera falls into the same category for me.

So, what tracks would you like to see a cabaret performance of (and, if you like, who would you wish to see performing it)?

Agreed - whenever I hear Buttons or any other WCS'able track I really like, I always picture Jordan & Tatiana dancing to it.

I would also love to see a great Argentine Tango routine by any good tango dancers. But without so much of all that over-flamboyant leg kicking stuff - some is fine, but it really irritates me when it's too OTT, such as (IMO) that professional tango performance on Strictly Come Dancing - the one with 3 men, you know?

Personally, I have for ages wanted to do a cabaret to Janis Ian's 'In the Winter' .... but Marc's not so convinced on that track.

Little Em (ex Rugby teacher) has choreographed a routine we are currently practising to 'Buttons'. No guys involved just 6 Aberdonian (or adopted Aberdonian) girls strutting their stuff.

Must say it has been fab fun to learn & practise aswell as a lot of hard work.

The end result is to be shown at Emmas Daventry do at the end of June although right now I am blanking out the performance part of it as i'm terrified!

Funny you say that. I've been watching J&T recently on YouTube having seen a link by Sheepman, and though I'm not a WCS fan (don't flame me), the routines have been beautiful.

    Is this MJ? Or cheerleading?

(Not that there's anything wrong with cheerleading of course )

Re: What showcase / cabaret would you like to see?

Im currently working on a couple of routines at the moment. 1 of them is along similar lines to the tracks mentioned.

Not too sure when I will be able to inflict them on the unsuspecting public though. There are only so many hours in the week and with practice and teaching (not to mention work) it gets pretty hectic.

Disclaimer: Routines may cause feelings of nausea and excessive drowsiness. Do not watch while driving

Are you trying to suggest that there is something wrong with MJ?

Now there is someone who I think can do justice to Buttons

Odd there's no guys though given the lyrics and sentiments of the track but I'll look forward to seeing it performed at Daventry

You'll get to see it at Culter May 22nd I think so will be able to judge for yourself.

Agree with Rob that Emma is great & this song suits her style - its just the rest of us that have to keep up!

I'm curious why so many people here refer to WCS when they consider "Buttons" or "Ain't No Other Man", when they are perfectly good songs to do good ol' fashioned Modern Jive to.

Because if you've seen Jordan and Tatiana or any other of the top US West Coast dancers, then you hear the Christina Aguilera song, you can't imagine anybody dancing anything else other than WCS to it and doing the music justice....

    I can, very easily

If you want a harder imagination challenge, how about the idea of someone doing a mesmerising body-popping routine to Flight of the Bumblebee, which perfectly suits the music.
