    Give me a chance!
I have added 'Sponsored links' (as discreetly as I could manage) in my continued effort to cover the running costs of the Forum.
You are quite right that subscribing to Silver Membership is already contribution enough, so Silver Member will not see the adverts (I'm still tweaking the settings).
If you are not a Silver Member, I would encourage you to visit sponsored links of interest!
If you are a Silver Member but would still like to see the adverts, drop me a PM and I'll update your account accordingly.
    Franck.

    There's an A.P.P. for that!

    Re: Sponsored links?

Have you used google adsense before Franck and if so have you had much sucsess with it?

I only ask as I have been using it for awhile on various sites. Have had over 1,000,000 page impressions, 50,000 click thru's and still have not clocked up $100 for a cheque to be sent out.

Just wondering what I'm doing wrong. Google wont tell me.

    http://www.google.com/adwords/learningcenter/

It might give you a few ideas how to improve performance

But be warned it’s a very complicated subject

read it many times over. The main prob seems to be people clicking the links but im just not getting paid for the clicks.

Stats show clicks 5 then shows $0.00

    Re: Sponsored links?

Well times change as they say Franck and I'd rather that you had subtle links and a forum to no links and no forum.

However, don't tell your sponsors, I for one have never ever deliberately clicked a link from any website I have chosen to go to.

If I want something I do my research or go to eBay.

    Re: Sponsored links?

Maybe someone could post a screenshot of the site as a silver member so we can see exactly which advertisements we get to remove by upgrading? Eg: Quick News ad? Blaze ad?

The only adverts (currently) removed by Silver membership are the adverts at the bottom of each thread page.

I am trying to implement a similar system for the 'Header' adverts (i.e. the Blaze advert) so that they are invisible to Silver Members too soon.

I hope that answers your questions as it would be nice to welcome you back to the Silver Members' Clique

Yeah hun, that'd be great. What would also be nice is 'not' to see the advert that says 'Upgrade to Silver Membership' too... for obvious reasons.

Are you really struggling to cover costs so much?

Well, that would be the plan too, I just need to get my head round the conditionals in the code.

I'm afraid so! The busier the Forum gets, the more it costs and sadly, in the last couple of years it has reached a level I can't justify and subsidize personally.
