There are cracked versions of it out there already and it's not even in the shops yet!!!!!

I'll let you all know what it's like later when I throw it on a test machine

agreed - use them both. Firebug beta 1 is fantastic - saves a lot of time to say the least

Well done G33k Yes HTML has to be read by a browser - which means hiding it from humans makes it more complicated and slower for the browser, and as MH says - its pointless, because many programs/plugins will produce something readable for you just as the browser itself does. Also the search engines do not like code they cant read. Also, also, developers usually realise the futility of the whole thing and dont bother

Ive occasionaly come across web pages that try and disable what i can do with my own browser, but they are just annoyances - e.g. if you are in the habit of right clicking to open a link in a new tab, no right click pop-ups are extremely annoying - opera tends to ignore the affect anyway, but you still get the pop-up.

So where's this super-encrypted page then?

I did have a look at the encrypt demo page, and even I managed to disprove a couple of point (CTRL+A to select text, for example) - so I'm not convinced it'll be that difficult to crack.

So ... presumably, if we copy one or more pages and put it (them) live (briefly, just for you to see) as unencrypted html, with all graphics included, this would prove the point to your satisfaction?

There is at least one good reason for encrypting parts of your web site – you can hide content, such as email addresses, from robots and the like...

    Anti-fraud

but first, let me humbly apologise to David James for suggesting he was a dummhead, to those who know him, he may well be a dummhead but not in this instance and I was most definitely wrong to suggest it

To Duncan, yes you were quite correct in your assertions but I don't think it is as easy as you implied, it took me at least 3 minutes to get one of the gifs from the site after viewing the source with Firebug (damn that software!) and I knew where to look.

    However a challenge still remains.

See how long it takes to reply to this post inserting the gif of the UV Licence from the home page in your reply, a pint of finest ale to the first successful post (if I get to see him/her )

Anyone know where there's a bakery in Glasgow where I can buy a large humble pie? There's one in Byres Road but their pies aren't big enough

theft is increasing at an alarming rate. With fraud related costs to
UK businesses totalling billions a year, businesses need to know who
their customers are more than ever before. Add to this the regulatory
requirements for compliance with the latest anti-money laundering guidelines
and the need for identity verification becomes critical.<br>

Establishing the legal identity of a client is essential to fraud prevention
and compliance with anti-money laundering guidelines. It is vital that
businesses have set in place the right measures to reduce the risk of
money laundering. This applies to both new applications and to <b>existing
customers</b> who were taken on before the Money Laundering Regulation
came into force in 1994. <br>
Legal practices are at risk of being exploited by criminals to hold
or convert the proceeds of their crimes. The consequences of being implicated

UK businesses totalling billions a year, businesses need to know who
their customers are more than ever before. Add to this the regulatory

OK, I owe you a pint and well done but I still believe encryption protects against the majority of web plagiarists.

The image woodface posted is easy enough to obtain in Firefox. Menu -> Tools -> Page Info -> "Media" tab -> "Save As..."

The version under UV required me to bother "decrypting" the page (see above), but is available here:

Woodface is by far the winner, you've only posted a link to the image, his post was an actual image but still the WRONG ONE
