Mrs Par and I had a great weekend of dancing.. Utopia on Friday FAB! Hammersmith Saturday ... Tiggerbabe was just amazing Sunday Berko with OXO and latin Ian 2 rooms of class music... WOW a great weekend.
After reading so much negative stuff about venues I figured there must be some other people like me here, people who go dancing and have an amazing time. The DJ played great music, the staff were friendly, the floor wasn't sticky or too slippy, the drinks were reasonably priced, you learnt a really cool new move, you met an old friend, a new friend, danced with a forumite, had a fantastic dance, anything really.... but most importantly you had brilliant fun Cerocing.
I wanted to share the excellent time I had tonight at Stafford (where pretty much all of the above was true... ohh did I mention party atmosphere?) with you guys without getting shot down in flames for daring to have fun Cerocing.
So, please tell all.......... where's your favorite venue and why? Where have you been tonight? Anything - let's make this a who's who of the top dancing spots in the UK
But there's just one thing......... nothing negative please, save the moaning for all the other threads and keep this one up beat to balance the karma of the forum.

I had a good night of dancing last night: was flowing stuff well and connecting to the music nicely. Had some very nice dances Tried a couple of things that didn't screw up. ... yup. a good night.
I also had a good night last night. DJ was brilliant (as always) and the teacher was good too (as usual). The dances went well, really enjoyed them. A good night was had by all :-)
Its not very often I don't have a good night when I go out
shame I missed OXO'S at Berko, but , Utopia was wonderfull, for all the reasons allready stated and looking forward to this weeks Utopia Hammersmith was just fab, fab, fab. all on another tread
I think this tread could be good.
I just hope we get a variation of venues on this tread, it would help me making decision where to go, especially if I can't travel far for sitting reasons.
perhaps new to me' venue' would be useful and not just i went to........venue again this week as usual, and it was .......
I hope that's not negative its not meant to be, I just think the post's would have more impact if the person posting has something to compare and can give reasons why it was good, not just its all new to me, and I have discovered dance.
It was great, thanks.
Battlestar Galactica and The Transporter. Fantastic
Whent to Ceroc Bath
The DJ played great music,
The staff was friendly
The floor wasn't sticky or too slippy (but being concrete a bit hard)

I had a great time last night too And I didn't fall once! Hopefully I won't fall tonight either... But we won't tempt fate
I hear there were some experienced male dancers there.
its not just about turning over begginers, its catering for all levels allowing people to progress.
No one wan'ts to stop people having fun, lets not be negitive or sensitive
I'm not sure who said it but..........any publicity is good publisity
Pretty good I must admit..
apart from one Dance where my Partner was really forcibly back leading and hijacking me (almost every move!) I had a good night.
I ache today though.. not been dancing since NYE !! ouch !!
Not so good for me
It started off ok with a visit to the gym. Then on the way back I ran out of screen wash. I was pleasantly surprised when I found I could buy screen wash along with my groceries at my new, bigger, Sainsburys.
The rest of the evening was much of a muchness, but I struggled to get to sleep because of an annoying itchy cough
Oh, are we supposed to be talking about dancing?
I find it difficult to read this thread without recalling Eddie Izzard's sketch about "Awesome Hotdogs, only $2.99".
That was my failed attempt to be 'mildy entertaining' But thanks anyway.
My local venue obviously Being serious for a moment, and trying to be objective, it is very good - a very nice venue, a great teacher and DJ, and a very friendly bunch of people (that's not just from me, but from other people that dance elsewhere). I shall be off there in a couple of hours!
I have also been to Woking recently and enjoyed that.
I had a good night last night. Lots of lovely dances. Better not comment on the DJ and teacher though!
well, we had a laugh last night as a group of 'cerocers' from my local venue had a second latin (merengue/mambo) night together. It's become apparent that the teachers are on quite a steep learning curve and to their credit they are listening from much of the good humoured feedback which we give ... at times we were in hysterics with some of the analogies as the teacher isn't english, with several instances of being told we could practice moves alone 'or whilst waiting for a bus'... or 'pretending to kill a worm with the twist of our ankle'...'kill it!, kill it!, kill it!, kill it!'... hmmm... yes!
Despite this we actually learnt a sequence of moves to freestyle to rather than a standard routine which was satisfying - remains to be seen if we can repeat it. But I think we all left feeling good and it was nice to be out together.
I think a few drinks before hand will help in future.
if you havn't got a scence of humor its wasted
glad to see you are keeping with 'only positive' feed back please
We know thats where I have gone wrong in the past
now you have me wondering, I havn't seen it
Fletch I promise to try not to turn the thread into a Stafford-fest I do think that as you (and a few other forumites) visit lots of venues you are in a really great position to advise us lesser travellers where the best nights are - so we can make the most of the times we can manage to break free mid-week for a night
Remember you can post about anything you did last night that was amazing (OK dance related stuff calm down Gav) such as new moves you learnt, dances you had, it's not all just about the venues......
